Last Friday's VIP post was all about lunatics in Chicago, given the green light by the governor and Chicago's own intellectually challenged mayor, attacking the Broadview ICE detention facility.
One of the local Chicago stations recapped Friday's adventures and addressed rumors that the protests had managed to chase the immigration efforts out of the city.
They're not going anywhere.
The Department of Homeland Security has addressed rumors on the future of a suburban immigration facility closing following days of protests that have escalated to numerous clashes between demonstrators and guards.
According authorities, there are currently no plans to temporarily close the facility in suburban Broadview.
"Any allegations that ICE Broadview Processing Center is temporarily closing are FALSE," Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at DHS, said in a statement.
The department accused demonstrators of throwing tear gas cans, rocks, bottles and fireworks at law enforcement, while also slashing car tires and blocking entrances to the building. Protesters were often seen trying to block vehicles or federal agents entering or exiting the facility, with federal agents then firing pepper balls at the crowd of protesters.
There had been some truly memorable scenes last week, but the one that really sticks out most (besides the clown costumed as Captain America fearlessly blocking vehicles until they started to move) was the congressional candidate bouncing off the pavement after being unceremoniously removed from impeding officers as they tried to clear the gate.
BOINK!

Darned if I couldn't watch that all day, you know?
Naturally, she's butthurt about it, demanding an investigation and all, and good luck with that.
In the meantime, her bounce off the pavement has brought some attention to the previously unknown candidate, and it turns out she's exactly the little radical peach you'd figure would be shrieking in front of a federal gate and then whining when she got tossed for obstructing operations.

In her spare time, she openly shares genocidal slogans against the Jewish people. Yet, in a bid to… pic.twitter.com/qTyBuiCkEu
...Yet, in a bid to represent Americans, she chooses to drape a keffiyeh in her background instead of the U.S. flag.
The former Media Matters staffer (oh, hello) is about as eloquent as AOC or the Crockett creature. I guess it comes standard with the only skin-deep appeal of this current crop of non-intellectual progressive chicas. Nobody's drooling over them for their deep thinking.
...In a video posted to X/Twitter on Monday, Abughazaleh blasted the Democratic Party for failing to provide “real leadership” and for continuing to “work from an outdated playbook.” She repudiated the Democrats for supposedly “shrinking away” from conflict with the Republican Party and “cowering to [US President Donald] Trump” and the “authoritarians” within his administration. The progressive social media personality vowed to fight for “human rights and financial freedom” for all Americans.
...In a fundraising text message following the official launch of her campaign, Abughazaleh further repudiated the close relationship between the United States and Israel, writing that “Democratic leadership should do something to stand up for Palestinians.” She also condemned her primary opponent for voting to “send billions to Israel.”
On Instagram, Abughazaleh posted a painting depicting a woman wearing a keffiyeh wrapped around her head, captioned: “Collective liberation includes palestinian liberation. freedom for all means freedom for palestinians [sic].” She has also posted another photo of herself standing next to street art reading “Free Palestine” and wrote a caption saying “from the river to the sea” — a popular slogan among anti-Israel activists that has been widely interpreted as a call for the destruction of the Jewish state, which is located between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
And here the gamin blonde, squad wannabe poster girl is, first thing at zero dark thirty this morning, calling all her little friends to come on down to the Broadview facility for a good righteous time.
Kat "ICE That Butt" Abughazaleh, Democratic House candidate in Illinois, is encouraging more terrorists to show up today, where they will likely commit more crimes against federal agents. Please oh please Kat, help me make another video meme today. Stay tuned everyone! 🤣 pic.twitter.com/0YirKDsxau

The nasty kiddos got started early, which kind of sucked if you were a DHS agent who had to get to work.
This definitely doesn't help.https://t.co/yPOxyLenFN pic.twitter.com/lu1ep9pEwv

ICE agents had staged early and asked protesters politely to take their signs off the fence. Naturally, they received nothing but a load of NSFW abuse (true for all of these videos) for simply asking. Then the agents had to come out and take them down as a blue cloud of filthy bile filled the air.

Lord, these people are obnoxious. It's an assault on the ears, and that's speaking as someone who, go figure, swears in fluent Marine
And they're stupidly, rabidly dangerous. The cretins swarm and surround cars trying to enter, and then scream like little girls if the vehicle creeps through, or defensive measures like pepper balls are deployed after being told repeatedly to let the vehicle pass.

The crows continued to grow, and looked to my uncalibrated eye to be pretty much pasty white. That probably explains the juvenile chanting, but at least they gave up on the cowbells.
GET UP! GET DOWN!
CHICAGO IS AN IMMIGRANT TOWN!

Just a short while ago, it degenerated to the point where the protesters are calling for the ICE agents to be shot.
This is clear incitement to violence under the law and they should be arrested immediately.
— Matt Van Swol (@matt_vanswol) September 26, 2025
No question.
This is against the law. You cannot call for someone to murdered.
They should be arrested right now. Without delay.
The feds broke out the tear gas and have made several arrests in the past few minutes.

But what does that mean in practicality in Chicago?
Who knows.
Today's demonstration, which is the fourth Friday in a row, isn't over yet
.The only thing for certain right now is that every Friday's demonstration at Broadview is larger and becomes more physically and verbally aggressive. Local politicians are getting into the act for their own purposes and lying out the wazoo to boot in a blatant effort to further inflame tensions.
THEY JUST SHOT AT US AS THOUGH FOR SPORT
...Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss, who was also present, said agents fired without warning.
"We were standing here with a group of people literally doing nothing," Biss said. " There was no disturbance. There was no chaos. There was no effort to move a car in or out. They just shot at us as though for sport. They are trying to dominate and intimidate, and we are not going to be intimidated."
ICE agents also detained at least two protesters. Parts of 25th Avenue were temporarily locked down as gas lingered in the air and officials prevented access to the area.
While the local stations tell heartrending stories of tamale sellers suddenly swept up by ICE.
You see, she's illegal, well, yes. But she's been here for over ten years, and she only sells tamales!
COME ON, ALREADY
...One of those being held at Broadview ICE facility is Laura Murillo. She was detained Thursday morning near a BP gas station at 47th Street and Western Avenue in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to her fiancé, Jaime Perez.
Murillo is originally from Tamaulipas, Mexico but has lived in the U.S. for more than a decade, Perez explained.
He shared that Murillo often sells tamales on that corner, but on Thursday, he received a frantic call from her at 7:32 a.m.
"She was being detained and there was somebody behind her," Perez said. "I told her to hold on, that I was going to come to her, I’m only a few blocks away but traffic was so bad and all I kept hearing her saying was, ‘You’re hurting me, you’re hurting me.’"
I am not sure what Homan and Noem have in mind for Chicago, but it's quite obvious that this could easily become a Seattle-like conflagration if left to fester. Nothing says that these events will remain Friday-only, or that there won't be random attacks at any given time on either the facility or active ICE/CBP enforcement in the city.
They all have their apps running, and the rhetoric from elected officials is giving these activists cover and encouragement.
It's pretty ugly all around and has the potential to get so much worse than bounced off your ass on the pavement.
Someone had best get a handle on it.
