Texas Opie Is a Rhinestone Rental Cowboy

Sometimes I wonder how many fakes the Democrats can keep finding out there in the wilderness. It's been just incredible so far.

And what's really been a head-scratcher is what they ignore in a candidate as they swallow the fake part hook, line, and stinker in their desperate attempts to appeal to the country's voting normies. Those regular folks who still exist as the base of the Democratic Party and independents, although both have been rejecting them left and right lately.

I mean, for instance, they were all in on the fake oysterman, but sure didn't seem to mind the real Nazi part, nor any of the misogynist thing until it turned out to be one of their own.

Now they've got themselves a lumberjack - I guess that part's real - who doesn't pay his taxes, and may or may not have behaved aggressively towards females of his acquaintance, besides being a turncoat Republican socialist. Movin' on up.

And that's just two of the characters in the Maine contest. If you haven't heard Jesse Watters' dramatic readings from Ashley Webb's autobiography, 'I Am Ashley,' well.

You really missed something, let me tell you.

Fauxcahontas threw over 'her guy' Graham just that fast to hot foot it to Michigan, so she could go goo-goo over the next fake.

I mean, even The Atlantic doesn't like this guy.

Abdul El-Sayed Fuses Together Two Toxic Ideologies

The Michigan candidate for U.S. Senate has a profound weakness for conspiracism.

Abdul El-Sayed is running for Senate as a Democrat in Michigan, where he is waging a close and bitter contest against Representative Haley Stevens in a primary that will be held on Tuesday. Were he to win, and then go on to defeat Mike Rogers, the presumed Republican candidate, El-Sayed would become the most fervently anti-Zionist senator. “If you want your politics dictated to you by AIPAC or Chuck Schumer, then I’m not your guy,” he said during a debate with Stevens.

El-Sayed depicts Israel and its American supporters as the primary authors of Donald Trump’s foreign policy. He also blames Israel and AIPAC for a wide array of domestic social problems. “We should be using our tax dollars here to invest in health care here and education here, rather than sending it over there to buy bombs and tanks that get used to drive apartheid and genocide there,” he said to WDET, Detroit’s public-radio station. El-Sayed has barely acknowledged the possibility that Stevens is a sentient being with individual agency, describing her as “a suit with a large AIPAC bank account.”

He's starting to look like the kind of 'doctor' who would treat an 'Indian' like Liz.

But that's OKAY!

Al-Sayed's still got to get through that impressive competition he's running against in the primary. She's a barnburner.

But the biggest current fake of all is still out there on the campaign trail, secure in his party's nomination, with nowhere to go but...well.

I'm not sure.

Texas Opie Talarico has been trying all sorts of stunts all over Texas, doing whatever he's told and wearing whatever clown suit his consultants tell him to put on any given day so he can convince the rest of Texas that he's ALWAYS BEEN ONE A' THEM FOLKS.

Real. Authentic.

TEXAS

Who plays with dolls.

Still in touch with his inner fascist child.

Now, there are certain truisms associated with the state Texas Opie wants to represent as one of their senators. Certain customs that must be observed. Cowboy boxes that must be ticked off before a statewide candidate can possibly be considered almost authentically 'Texas.'

EVERY MAN HAS A TRUCK IN TEXAS

Even beta Beto knew that. He had his manly photo taken with the appropriate vehicle. What ruined the vignette were the beseeching eyes of his poor labrador, who looked as if he was trying to blink out a 'save me' hostage message.

Texas Opie has a slickster team and doesn't appear to be willing to get as dusty as Beto. But of course he's in a truck.

EVERY MAN IN TEXAS HAS A TRUCK

Except when they have to rent one for their campaign commercial because maybe they don't actually have one...?

Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico apparently rented a pickup truck for a recent campaign video to appear more Texan.

Talarico can be seen driving a 2026 Ram 1500, which journalist David Weigel determined to be owned by U.S. car rental company Enterprise, in a campaign video posted July 20. The Economist reported in August 2025 that the former school teacher drove a Chevy Colorado.

Talarico has drawn heavy criticism from Republicans and conservatives over his past statements on social issues and guns, as well as his views on Christianity.

Talarico expressed supported for a gun licensing system, an “assault weapon ban,” a “large capacity magazine ban,” and mandated safety standards for handguns, during a recently unearthed web seminar from 2020.

Okay. I lol'd.

There is a lot of cope in the comments, naturally. 'Maybe they couldn't work out getting Talarico's honkin' huge Chevy Colorado to the location!'

Yeah. Okay.

Or maybe he's just the strange little freak he's been from the second we first heard about him absconding from the state legislature on a $40 million private jet in order to avoid a redistricting vote and then preaching at a black church in Chicago for a photo op.

Same manipulative dweeb.

Same camera-ready creepster.

Well, there is an explanation for the pick-up, and it's simple, according to the Opie campaign. As Kennedy explains, they tried using Talarico's mid-sized Chevy but 'the tinted windows were just too dark because he's such a gangster.'

Authenticity.

Republicans should spit that word out at Democrats with the same disdain that Burl Ives snaps 'menDAcity' out in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Nuthin' more powerful than authenTIcity, either.

And I'm in no hurry for these fools to figure it out.
