The winter Olympics are being held outside of Milan, Italy, this year. With everything going on in Europe as far as their invited and uninvited foreign 'migrant' guests, tensions are high across the continent, as you'd imagine.
We've all seen the cancellations of different traditional winter festivals across the breadth of Europe, from Christmas Markets shuttered in Germany, many over burgeoning security costs, most due to fears of attacks, to New Year's in Paris, and everywhere in between.
The normally proud and defiant French are waving the white flag in the face of migrant terror.
Paris has shockingly decided to dim the lights on its annual New Year’s Eve fête along the iconic Champs-Élysées.
The massive midnight concert that drew a jubilant crowd of a million people last year — with the festivities having drawn throngs to the “most beautiful avenue in the world” for six decades — has been scrapped and replaced by a pre-recorded video to be viewed in the safety and comfort of French living rooms.
That list includes Milan, whose mayor is insisting there simply isn't enough time to blow out the old year and get ready for the downhillers. But the cancellation has people who are aware of events in the city wondering whether it really has to do with something else the mayor would prefer not to make the headlines over.
Milan will not hold its traditional New Year’s Eve celebration in Piazza Duomo this year, with the city confirming that no concert or public countdown will be staged.
Mayor Giuseppe Sala attributes the decision to the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, noting that a significant portion of the square is already taken up with preparations for the Games due to commence on Feb. 6.
“The square is 30 percent full for the Olympics, plus there’s the Christmas tree and the Olympic timer in Piazzetta Reale, so it can’t happen this year,” Sala said, adding that the administration intends to restore the event next year.
The cancellation comes after several high-profile sexual assaults in Piazza Duomo during celebrations in recent years, which have brought the city into disrepute. There is no formal suggestion that the cancellation is due to these attacks, but it is clear that the city cannot afford any bad press in the lead-up to the Games.
New Year’s festivities in and around Piazza Duomo were overshadowed last year by sexual assaults involving groups of young migrants targeting women in the crowd, including tourists. Six Belgian students reported being sexually assaulted by up to 30 to 40 men in the city’s main square.
YMMV, but one can understand the man's reticence when the world's eyes will soon be turned on his city, and things are sketchy enough as it is.
One person who is actively on the hunt for a solution to the thorny 'migrant' issue is the spitfire blonde prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. While she can't manage every single city's individual issues with their imported population, she can do what she can to begin to trim the numbers back and not indulge the hordes who are already in the country.
Meloni has managed, after mighty battles with the overreaching Brussels Brahmins, to be in a position to finally effect some measurable change and dictate solutions of her own.
For one thing, she's going after embedded terror cells with a vengeance, and she doesn't care who or how prominent they are when her Guardia scoops them up.

Italian police arrested nine people accused of financing Hamas through charitable associations that investigators said raised at least €7.3 million for the Palestinian militant group.
Police and the Guardia di Finanza executed arrest warrants and seized more than €8 million in assets in an operation coordinated by Genoa's District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate.
The investigation, which began before the 7 October 2023 Hamas-led attack on southern Israel, revealed what prosecutors described as a complex network of international financial transfers through three Italian associations based in Genoa and Milan.
Investigators allege seven people arrested were members of Hamas' foreign operations wing, while two others provided external support.
...Mohammad Hannoun, 63, president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy and founder of the Associazione Benefica di Solidarietà con il Popolo Palestinese (ABSPP), was identified by investigators as the alleged leader of the Italian cell.
Prosecutors said more than 71% of donations collected by ABSPP and related associations went to entities controlled by or linked to Hamas.
The associations under investigation are ABSPP, founded in 1994, a second ABSPP organisation established in 2003 and La Cupola d'Oro, created in Milan in December 2023.
According to court documents, the suspects evaded banking controls by creating new associations after financial institutions including UniCredit, Crédit Agricole and Poste Italiane closed accounts linked to Hannoun following alerts from Israeli and US authorities.
...Investigators said the money also supported families of people involved in suicide attacks or imprisoned for terrorism offences, which prosecutors argued strengthened Hamas' operational capacity.
I will pat myself on the back for being something of an oracle when it comes to Meloni, writing a post almost three years ago that makes me sound pretty smart right about now. From the lady whose election so positively horrified the Brussels Brahmins that effete French president Emmanuel Macron didn't bother to invite her to dinner with other European leaders...
...Plus, she knows the Brussels cabal can’t stand the Italians. Look what happened just last week – unspeakably rude.
…Last week, for example, President Emmanuel Macron of France excluded Ms. Meloni from a dinner in Paris with Mr. Zelensky of Ukraine and Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, a clear sign that Italy had been knocked down a notch from when Mr. Draghi was in office. But analysts said Mr. Macron also wanted to avoid indirectly legitimizing France’s own right-wing firebrand, Marine Le Pen.
...to the viciously worded articles about her dripping with venom and tripping over themselves trying to find a different way to spell 'she's a fascist' 47 times in one article, Meloni has emerged triumphant and powerful, outlasting nearly all of them and eclipsing the barely clinging survivors like Macron.
Von der Leyen is rumoured to be displeased.
...There were fears that the Eurosceptic Ms Meloni would declare war on Brussels and plunge Italy into isolation when she took over from the respected technocrat Mario Draghi.
Instead, she is dragging Europe to the Right, winning disciples for her offshore migrant camps in Albania.
Even liberal and Left-wing governments are taking their cue from Ms Meloni on migration.
After meeting her, Sir Keir pledged €4.75m (£4m) for her push to stop illegal migration at source by cracking down on people smugglers, but also by tackling issues such as poverty and conflict in Africa.
His Government this month joined a Meloni-led demand for reforms to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to make it easier to deport migrants. That initiative has grown from an original nine countries to 27.
In parallel, Ms Meloni secured agreement for tougher EU asylum rules after hosting “migration summits” of leaders before European Council meetings in Brussels.
Meloni wasted no time announcing to uninvited Italian migrants that they were now persona non grata.

She also led the charge against the EU's gasoline engine ban, which was due to go into effect and was threatening to put the finishing touches on the European car makers' death spiral.
...She notched up another victory on Dec 16 after Brussels ended its plans for a ban on petrol cars by 2035 under pressure from Germany and Italy.
In the European Parliament, the Meloni-dominated European Conservatives and Reformists have worked with both the pro-EU centre-Right and Eurosceptic hard-Right to roll back net-zero rules.
Nathalie Tocci is the director of Italy’s Institute for International Affairs and a former special adviser to two EU foreign affairs chiefs. She said: “She hasn’t moved to the centre in the slightest ... it’s the centre-Right that has moved to the far-Right.”
God willing, the Olympics will go off without a hitch or horrible happenings. That such a fear is now attached to every single festive or celebratory moment in our lives and must be addressed with security and bollards, dogs, and weapons at the ready is indicative of the poison that's been spread into civilisation by the unimpeded flow of Islamic hate across the face of the earth.
Meloni, unlike the feeble-minded tools in Australia and the palaces of Brussels, will not bend a knee to the scimitar.
Giorgio Meloni is getting a lot negative about her policies. Well she's cut migration by 60% and when she takes globalists shackles off watch her fly. pic.twitter.com/f8TTVsBNSF
