The Democrat Illegal Protection Racket Continues

Even as there's more progress made in the fight to scoop up illegals, especially those criminals on the street and those on the road endangering lives everywhere they drive, word comes of protective progressive blue states that determinedly ignore their own citizens in favor of safeguarding the lawbreakers.

Bill Melugin had the story of another, sadly successful Commercial Driver's License (CDL) sweep...

...this time in California, that netted over a hundred illegals with state-issued CDLs merrily rumbling along the country's highways.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 100 illegal alien truck drivers on California highways in Operation Highway Sentinel, launched after a string of deadly crashes linked to commercial driving licenses (CDLs) issued under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s policies.

Federal authorities said the sweep was launched after multiple fatal crashes across several states involving illegal alien truck drivers licensed in California, underscoring growing concerns that the state’s commercial licensing policies are putting motorists nationwide at risk.

Those arrested included illegal aliens from India, Mexico, Colombia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Russia, Georgia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Honduras.

"Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies are costing American lives," ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan said. "His government knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business driving at all, let alone behind the wheel of a massive semi-truck. These drivers get their licenses, leave California, then terrorize roads all over the country."

Gavin Newsom has literally illegally licensed the world to roam along America's roadways without the least concern for the safety of Americans on the road with these drivers or even the barest requirements he demands of his own citizens.

ICE said after the raid that they were taking no chances and would be holding all 101 truck drivers 'pending their immigration hearings.'

Why would that be? Why not turn them over to local authorities to hold?

Kamalpreet Singh is one big reason why.

...According to the State Patrol, a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia semi driven by 25-year-old Kamalpreet Singh of Elk Grove, California struck the rear of a blue 2010 Mazda 3 sedan that had stopped behind a white 2016 Peterbilt truck. The Freightliner overrode the back of the Mazda and pushed it under the rear of the Peterbilt.

Troopers said the engine compartment of the Mazda caught fire after the impact but the flames were quickly extinguished. The Freightliner and Mazda came to rest in the left lane and the Peterbilt on the right shoulder.

Sadly, the driver of the Mazda, identified as Robert B. Pearson, 29, of Bonney Lake, died at the scene. Next of kin notifications were completed by State Patrol sergeants, the agency said.

Singh and the Peterbilt driver were not injured. All three drivers were wearing seat belts.

Singh faces a charge of vehicular homicide, according to the WSP.

The crash blocked the roadway for 6 hours and 48 minutes.

Missing from that report is the fact that Singh illegally entered the US near Lukeville in 2023 and, after being apprehended, was released by the Biden administration into the country.

The judge at the hearing refused to honor the ICE detainer that had been issued, set bail at $100,000 for Singh, which the defendant posted shortly thereafter, and ordered him released.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Washington sanctuary politicians refused to honor a detainer for Kamalpreet Singh, a criminal illegal alien truck driver from India, who caused a fatal multi-vehicle crash. Instead of honoring the ICE arrest detainer, these politicians chose to release this public safety threat back onto America’s roads.

Oh, if only that were all.

Remember that this illegal alien has already killed someone.

...He faces charges of vehicular homicide after he allegedly crashed into the back of a vehicle on State Route 167 in Washington, crushing it between another truck and killing 29-year-old Robert B. Pearson.

Singh struck the rear of a blue 2010 Mazda 3 sedan that had stopped behind a white 2016 Peterbilt truck, the Auburn Examiner reported.

And now it turns out that Singh's bond money has been returned to him because 'police didn't follow up with a case for prosecutors to present in court.'

It leads one to wonder where, oh, where is Mr Singh now?

Would Washington State feel the least little twinge of regret or, God forbid, responsibility should the illegal climb behind another wheel to smush and barbecue another senior citizen, or maybe an entire family this time?

DOUBTFUL

Likewise, a couple of days ago, the New York Times wrote a heart-tugging piece on the life of a young Sikh truck driver, which echoes many of their pieces about Muslims who suffer from Islamophobic attacks thanks to the homicidal tendencies of many of their fellow believers.

We need to be, as the NYT gently nudges, reminded that these are hardworking people far from home who still have feelings, the crushed cars and destroyed lives in their wake, and broken rules of law aside.

The appealing truck driver in the profile, also a Singh, talks to his mum back in Punjab over video links.

The phone vibrated just as Arash Singh curled onto a mattress in the sleeper cab of his semi truck parked in a lot off Interstate 5 in Northern California. As on most evenings, his parents were calling at the start of their day in a tiny village in Punjab, India.

“It’s winter almost. Please always wear a coat,” his mother gently implored on the video call. Mr. Singh nodded into the glow of the screen, before receiving their prayers.

Enter the obligatory NYT primer on why everyone is suddenly picking on Sikh truckdrivers and who knew there was a Punjabi Trucking Association?

...Mr. Singh has had more on his mind these days than he would like. Driving a truck is a solitary job, but Sikhs suddenly feel very much in the public eye. While estimates vary, around a quarter of Sikh adults in the United States work in the trucking industry, according to the North American Punjabi Trucking Association, which advocates for Sikh truckers, and they are concentrated on the West Coast. Two fatal crashes since August involving Sikh truck drivers led to increased scrutiny by the Trump administration, which escalated a crackdown on immigrant drivers that had begun with new English-proficiency guidelines in the spring. Those crashes killed six people; one driver was charged with vehicular manslaughter and the other with both vehicular manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

The Times includes the nastiness and vile comments the young man has been subjected to. He's a safe driver and has been for years. It isn't fair.

And then the pathos part. Mr Singh gets the dreaded email from a scrambling to preserve their DOT funds in California because?

HE'S A FRICKIN' ILLEGAL AND KNOWS DAMN WELL HE IS

...Mr. Singh had heard about all the political fuss from other drivers, but he still felt a heaviness when he opened an email on his phone one afternoon in early November.

“We regret to inform you,” it read, “that the D.M.V. will cancel your commercial driver’s license 60 days from the date of this letter.” Mr. Singh had followed the rules in applying for a temporary work permit and commercial license, but to keep his license, according to the letter, he now needed to provide “legal presence documents that meet new federal guidelines,” such as proof of permanent residency or citizenship. He had neither.

The president of the American Trucking Association says you cannot be a trucker if you're in the country illegally. He supports the crackdown. 'Safety and compliance,' he says

Unsurprisingly, members of Sikh communities on city councils in California ignore the safety aka law aspect and have said it's become an immigration ploy. The Trump administration is indulging yet more racism under the cover of 'safety and compliance.'

The handsome Mr Singh is still on the road, but now on the lam. Everyone is out to get the Sikhs. It isn't fair.

...Mr. Singh clutched the wheel as he drove through miles of dense fog in Northern California. He was nearing the midway point of hauling 15 pallets of potatoes from Pasco to Oxnard.

Before the crashes, he drove across the country, heading east along Interstates 10 and 40. But these days, he avoids states, like Texas and Oklahoma, where he fears being stopped and questioned about his immigration status. Now, he mostly drives up and down the West Coast.

He overlooks that they wouldn't be if he were a legal resident. If he had followed up on his asylum claim.

If he had done any of the above.

But to the NYT - who made sure the article had plenty of their classic victim pics with brooding, dark, somber, moody lighting - Mr Singh is the victim. To Washington State, their Murderous Mr Singh is the victim here, not the poor older man crushed in his Mazda through no fault of his own.

The lines are pretty clearly defined between sides.

There's really no blurring at all.
