Biden's theme is "finish the job." Have you SEEN the job thus far?

Now that President Biden has rolled out his first campaign advertisement of the 2024 cycle, we’ve learned that his theme is going to be “Let’s finish the job.” As with so much else that we’ve watched unfold over the past two years, that video left me feeling like I was watching some sort of poorly scripted dystopian movie. He’s hardly the first president to adopt such a theme, but surely he’s aware that most of his target audience (likely voters who are interested in the election) have access to the internet or at least a television, right? We’ve all witnessed “the job” that he’s done thus far and the results that have been produced. Can Biden actually believe that people like the way things have been going? Let’s take a brief walk down memory lane, even though “memory” might not be Uncle Joe’s strong suit these days.

What’s happened to the economy under Biden’s policies? Despite the glowing reviews from the White House press briefing lectern, real wages have gone down, not up. Income levels are down and people have drained their savings trying to keep up with rising prices. All of that was directly driven by inflation which has remained at or above 5% for almost all of the Biden presidency. And that inflation was a direct result of the trillions of dollars in imaginary money that was pumped into the system in the name of “stimulus.” None of this is any sort of partisan politicking or hyperbole. The figures are all out there for everyone to see.

And then there’s the situation that started on the southern border almost immediately after Joe Biden issued his first executive orders. They don’t call it the Biden Border Crisis for nothing. We are now up to more than 6.3 million illegal immigrants that have invaded the country since January 2021. Many were “encountered” and released into America’s interior but there have also been more than 1.2 million “gotaways.” (As they are called.) One record for illegal migration after another has been broken. And we somehow managed to lose track of at least 85,000 children. This is a crisis that may have started along the southern border, but it has now spread to every city and state in the nation as the illegal aliens are loaded onto buses and planes and dropped off in places with few resources available to help them. It’s gotten to the point where the Democratic Mayor of New York City is blaming Biden and running up the white flag.

Moving on, do you happen to recall what our energy situation was in America back in 2019? We were energy independent and became a net exporter of energy products for the first time ever. Gas was down near a buck per gallon at times. We were pumping so much natural gas that the drilling companies were literally giving it away at times to anyone with a truck to haul it. On day one, Joe Biden halted construction on the Keystone XL pipeline. More than 10,000 estimated jobs disappeared with the stroke of a pen. A moratorium on new oil and gas permits on federal lands was issued. Now rolling blackouts are a regular feature of life in many parts of the country. Every state in the country recorded the highest gas prices they’d ever recorded over the past two years. When House Republicans recently crafted a bill to restore energy production levels and fix the permitting process, Joe Biden immediately threatened to veto it.

But at least you feel safer today, right? Don’t make us laugh. The talking heads at CNN try to deny or downplay it, but the streets are far less safe today. A record number of homicides were recorded in nine large cities last year. Property crime is up significantly almost everywhere. Major crimes in New York City rose by 20% in both 2021 and 2022. In places like Chicago, carjacking has transformed from a serious crime to the national sport. And yes, people have been killed while being carjacked. Major retail outlets in cities like Portland and San Francisco are shutting their doors and leaving because they are being looted so frequently.

And if all of that isn’t enough for you, let’s talk about the foreign policy disaster that has unfolded in barely two years. Biden kicked it off with his disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, abandoning thousands of people, turning the country over to the Taliban and making it increasingly more of a hotspot for ISIS. Many of our former allies (or at least countries that would do business with us) have turned their backs and formed alliances with China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea in a new Axis of Evil. We’re constantly tiptoeing around the possibility that Russia might light off a couple of nukes. And while all of this is happening, Joe Biden takes no concrete action to confront China and restore some accountability to that relationship. Instead, he sits back while Chinese spy balloons go on grand tours of the United States.

So what was that you were saying about how everyone needs to give you a chance to “finish the job?” If the “job” in question was to completely wreck this country for far too many Americans, you probably don’t need a second term. The job looks like it’s nearly done already. But if you’re somehow arguing that your plans will make life better for everyday Americans, take a look around at all that you have wrought in barely two years. Why on earth would we believe you?
