Our latest entry in the category of voter fraud that never happens (according to our liberal betters) comes to us from Alabama. Albert Turner Jr. is the Perry County Commission Chairman and he has been indicted on two counts of voter fraud stemming from his alleged actions during the 2022 primary and general elections in that state. Turner faces one misdemeanor and one felony charge related to voting multiple times and ballot harvesting. When reached for comment, his “explanation” for his alleged actions left quite a bit to be desired. (AL.com)

Perry County Commission Chairman Albert Turner Jr. has been indicted on voter fraud charges.

Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Michael Jackson, along with Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, announced the two-count indictment Wednesday.

Turner, the son of civil rights activist Albert Turner Sr., is charged with voting more than once, which is a misdemeanor, and harvesting ballots, a felony.

Two charges may not sound like much, at least until you read the full details of the allegations that were made. During the Democratic primary in May, Turner was allegedly seen stuffing ballots into a voting machine. The District Attorney claims that he was there “most of the day stuffing filled out ballots in favor of the candidates he was supporting.” Those actions were reportedly described by multiple witnesses.

During the general election in November, Turner is accused of “mailing an undisclosed number of absentee ballots.” They may not be telling us the number, but the word “ballots” is plural, so it must have been more than one.

When reached for comment, Turner said that he was not going to waste his time on “political theater.” He further claimed that the District Attorney “can’t prove his case.” You may be noticing the one thing that Albert Turner didn’t say. He failed to say, ‘I didn’t do it.’

There does seem to be some political drama unfolding here. Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Michael Jackson filed the charges shortly before leaving office. He was departing because he was defeated in his reelection bid in May by Robert H. Turner Jr. The similarity in names you’re seeing here is not a coincidence. Robert H. Turner is Albert Turner’s first cousin. So if Albert Turner really was “stuffing” ballots into a machine “all day,” I wonder… who might he have been voting for?

We have recently been told by some of the highest-ranking people in the Republican Party (including the current GOP Chairwoman) that we need to embrace early voting and mail-in voting. The reason given is that the Democrats are so good at using those tools to get out the vote and that was one of the driving factors for the GOP’s poor performance in November. But is this really how we want to win? Keep in mind that even if Albert Turner winds up being convicted, that’s only one person who happened to get caught. The number of people doing these things all over the country will likely never be known.
