This week on Politinerds, Doug and I talk to John Philip Sousa IV, the national chairman of Run Ben Run, the Super PAC attempting to coax pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson into a 2016 presidential bid. (Yes, he’s the great grandson of that other John Philip Sousa you’re thinking of.) This conversation actually began last year when I published an article raising the question of how the PAC’s fundraising was going, how the money was being distributed and who was managing it. The PAC’s board reached out to me and asked for the chance to tell their side of the story. We get into that, as well as Carson’s positioning relative to the rest of the candidates who are already entering the field. John was an interesting subject and sheds a little more light on the various supporters who want to see this complete Washington outsider elected.
