The Many Questions Harris Can’t Answer

The likeliest reason neither she nor her advisers have devised better answers is that there are no politically palatable ones. ...

Any sitting vice president who runs for president faces some of these challenges. You have to be your own person and distance yourself from unpopular aspects of the incumbent. At the same time, you have to keep your party unified and avoid accusations of disloyalty and opportunism. That may be why only one vice president, George H.W. Bush, has run for president successfully since 1837. Unfortunately for Harris, Joe Biden is no Ronald Reagan.

That's true, but that's not really the main problem. Harris doesn't really have any answers -- not because she's running as a sitting VP, but because she doesn't appear to know what she's supposed to say. She thought she could get by with a strategy to paint Trump as unfit that leaves her as the only rational option for voters, but all she's doing is making it clear that she's too vapid to trust with high office.
