Routh, 58, appeared in federal court in West Palm Beach on Monday for his arraignment, which lasted fewer than five minutes.

Routh's lawyers entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

No surprise here; federal defendants don't generally plead guilty without a deal, and there hasn't been enough time to put one together. Not that there's much to negotiate in this case. He might offer to plead guilty just to avoid the trial in consideration for some concessions on where he'll spend the rest of his life, but that's about all he can get in a deal if the DoJ has the evidence it claims in the indictment.
