Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.
What stories topped your priority lists this week? For Duane and me, October has turned into the Freakers Ball, and Democrats have begun to freak out. We both play Where In The World Is James Talarico, and we included among our potential answers a rumor that began to circulate after we recorded our podcast early this morning. What we do know is that this isn't a case of the flu, and Democrats refuse to explain exactly why no one's seen their nominee to the U.S. Senate in nearly two weeks. The math ain't mathing in Texas, y'all.
It ain't mathing in Michigan, either. Abdul El-Sayed had a disastrous debate against Mike Rogers, but as Duane points out, other indicators look even worse. Barack Obama will make a last-minute rescue attempt two weeks from tomorrow, but he has a pretty poor track record on those efforts in Michigan.
Duane also brings some data in Ohio that shows surprising turnout indicators, which may also contribute to Democrat freakouts. The political environment looks much better in Minnesota too, and it shows why candidate recruitment matters – even in races that may not look winnable at first.
Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
