What. The. Ever-lovin’. Hell.
Joe Biden’s Oval Office reference to “Islamicphobia” turned out to be no accident. Instead, in the wake of pro-Hamas and pro-genocide rallies across America, the White House made clear that they intend to lean in to the progressive flow. Yesterday afternoon, Karine Jean-Pierre got asked whether the White House had any concern over the paroxysms of anti-Semitism in America since Israel began defending itself after Hamas’ orgy of death left 1400 Jews dead.
Jean-Pierre took a moment instead to scold Americans for their “hate” for Muslims:
"What is [Biden's] level of concern right now about a potential rise of antisemitism?"
KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: "Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks" pic.twitter.com/q1WYkpbKmn

Q What is his level of concern right now about the potential rise of antisemitism in light of everything that’s going on in Israel?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: So, a couple of things. Look, we have not seen any credible threats. I know there’s been always questions about credible threats. And so, just want to make sure that that’s out there.
But, look, Muslim and those perceived to be Muslim have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks. And certainly President Biden understands that many of our Muslim, Arab — Arab — Arab Americans and Palestinian American loved ones and neighbors are worried about the hate being directed at their communities. And that is something you heard the President speak to in his — in his address just last — last Thursday.
And so, one of the things that the President has done is directed his team — Homeland Security team to prioritize prevention and disruption of any emerging threats that could harm the Jewish, the Muslim, Arab Americans or — or any other communities. And that is something that the President has sought to do and — and — since day one.
As you know, the President ran on — on — on, you know, bringing commu- — protecting communities, obviously, but bringing people together, the soul — protecting the soul of the nation. And so that is something that the President takes very, very seriously.
We have college and high school campuses across the country chanting the genocidal slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine must be free,” a demand for the eradication of Israel. We have seen demonstrations in major American cities cheering Hamas for their ‘decolonization’ efforts. Some of these demonstrations had Hamas flags in the vanguard, in fact. Jews now fear going out in public for entirely rational reasons … and the White House wants to focus on “Islamicphobia”?
Besides, even before Hamas went on its massive and deadly pogrom, Jean-Pierre got the facts wrong. Jews suffer most disproportionately from hate crimes, and have for years. The 2022 statistics just came out from the FBI last week, and those make the issue even starker. Anti-Semitic hate crimes were the second-highest category in all hate-crime types, with 1124 recorded incidents (anti-black hate crime tops the list at 3424). Anti-Muslim hate crime doesn’t even make the top ten; at 158, it comes in 15th, behind anti-Sikh at 181.
Take a look for yourselves:
In terms of proportionality, there are about twice as many Jews in the US as Muslims, at least according to PRRI and Statista, although you need an account with the latter to get to the specifics. The FBI recorded 621% more hate crimes targeting Jews than Muslims in 2022, and that is generally the trend in any year. The tiny Sikh community in the US suffers more disproportionally than the Muslims, for that matter. By any measure, anti-Semitism in the US is far more prevalent than “Islamicphobia,” and far more virulent at the moment.
So why does the White House want us to talk about “Islamicphobia” instead of the cheerleading for genocide against the Jews we clearly see on the streets? Biden and his team are married to the progressive Left, which has decided that Jews are colonizers who deserve what they get. Make no mistake; this was not an error on Jean-Pierre’s part. Biden himself signaled this by spending more time fretting over “Islamicphobia” in his Oval Office address than he did on Hamas’ grotesque barbarity in southern Israel. Biden and his team have contempt for Americans in general, and contempt for Israel and America’s alliance with the only liberal democracy in the Middle East. That’s why Biden has spent the last three years trying to appease Iran, which has spent the last five decades trying to wipe Israel off the map, with us next on the list after that.
David Harsanyi crystallizes this despicable hypocrisy in the final paragraph of his column at The Federalist today:
There were dozens of Charlottesville-type marches in the United States last week, with chants of genocide ringing in the air. They were attended largely by Muslim protesters, along with the hard left (including a number of self-hating Jews.) Though Jews are by far the most targeted religious minority in the United States, we have yet to have a big national conversation about the problem. No one in major media dares even bring it up.
There’s a reason for that, too. The institutional capture of the progressive Left includes the media as well as Academia and this administration in particular. It’s not that they’re less worried about anti-Semitism than “Islamicphobia” — it’s that they don’t care at all about anti-Semitism. Jean-Pierre just made that contempt a little more obvious than usual.
