Biden flops, lab-leak intel drops, and McCarthy chops: The Week in Review!

Townhall Media

What stories topped your priority lists this week? Duane Patterson and I both agree that the revelation about US intel on a lab leak in Wuhan tops our lists for multiple reasons. “It’s about corruption,” I argue. “It’s about corruption in the government, and it’s about corruption in the media. … The mainstream media is white-knighting for bureaucrats.” We also tackle Joe Biden’s incompetent flip-flop on DC’s police reform, discuss how that will impact Democrats, and talk about Duane’s Big Handshake, plus a lot more on the week that was!

Welcome to our new VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.

We start and end with discussions about David Strom, which you won’t want to miss, and we also end with a salute to our VIP and Hughniverse members. In between, we also hit these topics:

  • Now Dianne Feinstein is also hospitalized and out for a few weeks, as is John Fetterman. That leaves Chuck Schumer with no majority. What’s next?
  • Oral arguments on the student-loan forgiveness program left both of us a little concerned over standing. “Reading the tea leaves,” Duane says, “if they do get to the merits of the case, Joe Biden’s EO is toast. The big question is gonna be how they’re gonna rule on standing to be able to get to the merits.”
  •  Did Lori Lightfoot’s loss in Chicago convince Biden to flip on the DC police reform bill?
  • Karine Jean-Pierre’s latest gaffery in the White House briefing room demonstrates — again — that Biden and his team is still “playing checkers in a three-dimensional-chess world.” Why didn’t anyone prep her?
  • Christopher Wray’s acknowledgment that the FBI has concluded since June 2021 that COVID originated in a lab leak is yet another data point for a brewing civil war within the DoJ.
  • Plus, we manage to get in one shot on Don Lemon … which is good, because neither of us think he’ll be around long enough for too many more quips

Be sure to watch it all and join the conversation in the comments!
