UPDATE: Video from a different angle shows pretty clearly that the agent got hit by the car, although he appears mostly uninjured. But it pushed him as it sped up.

You really, really should not do that. This is the inevitable result of surging your vehicle at an armed law enforcement officer.

ORIGINAL POST:

The dueling narratives have already hardened, but at least some of the facts are clear: a woman confronted ICE officers at an immigration enforcement operation, a confrontation occurred, and she was shot and died

DHS says the woman shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has died.

In a statement to FOX 9, ICE says officers were conducting its operation when protesters began blocking officers.

"One of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism," the statement reads. "An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers."

DHS says the woman who was shot was struck and has died. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to recover, officials add.

"This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats," says Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. "This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available."

Democrats are crying murder, while the Department of Homeland Security has released a statement stating that the woman in question attempted to run down ICE agents and was shot in self-defense.

The Department of Homeland Security has been clear that the shooting was justified by the attempted murder of the agents on the ground, but the Democratic Party here has been screaming that ICE is the responsible party.

Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking  ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.

An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots.

He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.

The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.

This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement. These men and women who are simply enforcing the law on the books are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

The city demanded ICE leave even before the most basic facts about the shooting were known, and Democrats mobbed the area and began to surround ICE within minutes.

Mayor Frey, who just days ago "predicted" violence (threatened?), is now demanding that ICE leave immediately. (NSFW)

It's early days, and the competing narratives are hardening as we speak. The videos that are out there seem to indicate that the woman did indeed refuse to leave her vehicle when it was demanded, and in trying to escape, she aimed her car, perhaps inadvertently and perhaps not, at an approaching ICE agent who shot her.

A lot of people who are claiming that she did not drive at an agent seem to have missed that the agent who shot her was right in front of the car. They are focused on the one at her door, demanding she exit. (NSFW)

Local politicians have been ramping up the tensions well before this incident, and descriptions of the victim as a "legal observer" have been propagated; however, it is illegal to refuse to comply with the lawful order of a law enforcement officer demanding that you exit a vehicle, so that doesn't wash.

That's about as convincing as the argument that this is "First Amendment" activity:

I do suspect that the description of this incident as "domestic terrorism" is an exaggeration. My first impression is that the decedent was trying to evade arrest and in doing so endangered the life of the officer who shot her. I doubt she wanted to kill him or others.

But inadvertently placing the life of a law enforcement officer in danger as you impede his lawful activity is, needless to say, illegal and dangerous.

She found that out the hard way.

More to come.

As expected, Minneapolis activists are trying to turn this shooting into another George Floyd incident, where a criminal gets valorized and law enforcement gets demonized.

RIOTS SOON?

POLICE ALLOWING RIOT?

Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
