The Sickness of the People Blaming Groypers

I don't care for the Groypers--their whole shtick is mocking civilized behavior and discussion and elevating people like Nick Fuentes into leaders of a movement. They are the anti-Kirks--persuasion and understanding are the opposite of their goal, which is creating an identity group to fight the identity groups of the left.

Still, as unpleasant as their shtick is to me, it infuriates me to see the left-wing hoax that Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk because he was a Groyper who hated Kirk because he was Center-Right. It is not remotely true, and the people pushing this hoax are despicable.

Having been caught celebrating Kirk's assassination and witnessing the backlash against them, they are now blaming conservatives in a new way. They have transitions from "Charlie Kirk deserved what he got" to "the left would never do this or celebrate it--the Groypers did it!

This accusation is coming from some of the most prominent voices on the left, and magically appeared as a steady drumbeat AFTER the motives of the assassin were laid out for all to see. They know they are lying, but they also know that their audience is eager to have their faith confirmed.

A few of these prominent Democrats have deleted their tweets, as if throwing their chum into the waters of the left and then deleting their post after it has spread far and wide absolves them. But c'mon, man. The Antifa scribblings on the bullet casings and the reference to transgender ideology were known within hours, and the emergence of this narrative two days after the shooting makes clear that it is a coordinated effort.

A new YouGov poll shows 24% of Americans believe Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, is a Republican - more than the 21% who think he is a Democrat.

It follows a coordinated media narrative across platforms like Facebook, Reddit - echoed by Reuters, and the New York Times - pushing the idea that Robinson was a right-wing follower of Nick Fuentes.

The audience isn't the mainstream so much as the far left--it stokes them up. And, of course, it muddies the water a bit. It is in the genre of the claim that 94% of political violence is Right-wing, which is obviously false. I asked two liberals to name four recent incidents of Right-wing violence in recent years, and they came up with one or two. I can name 5 left-wing murders from just the past year or so off the top of my head. So can you.

And then there is the celebration of rioting, the valorization of Luigi Mangione, and the outpouring of celebrations at Kir's death. For a group of people who accuse us of violent tendencies, they sure embrace it regularly.

My Lieutenant Governor--in her official capacity--endorsed violent threats against opponents of sterilizing and mutilating children. Liberal politicians, who spend an inordinate amount of time endorsing violence when they rile up their base, are shedding fake tears when their followers take potshots at Trump and murder a man who literally just held conversations with high school and college kids.

They see the backlash--Charlie Kirk broke through to the public consciousness--and they need a fall guy. So they point fingers at the Groypers.

It is not true that all political violence comes from the left, of course. The people who go to such extremes are unhinged, and being unhinged is prior to ideology.

What IS unique to the left is their celebration and egging on of that violence, and how socially acceptable it is to promote it. Doctors, lawyers, professors, and judges wouldn't be spouting off about how much Kirk deserved to be killed unless they were confident it would be seen as socially acceptable.

Luigi Mangione's assassination of a health care executive was clarifying for some people--not because Mangione murdered somebody and was left-wing, but because the left wing embraced his action and called him a moral man.

They are dissociating themselves and pointing fingers because Kirk's murder is far more clarifying--they see their colleagues and friends celebrating, and it disgusts them. The Democrats have seen the backlash and their response is to generate a new hoax about Right-wingers doing the deed.

This won't work except with the truly committed fellow travelers, for which we can be grateful.
