Yesterday I wrote about the unhinged college student at the University of Michigan who attacked two people who were trying have discussions about hot-button issues on campus. I think everyone has seen the video by now, but just in case here it is.

So what happened after that arrest? Well she was taken and is apparently facing a misdemeanor charge of simple assault, which seems generous given that she also resisted arrest and made threats to murder someone. But because this is being treated as a misdemeanor, she was immediately released.

So far, it seems no charges have been filed but that could still come later.

The criminal aspect of this is one thing, but what about the college? Has the University of Michigan put her on some kind of probation, suspended her for a semester or asked her to leave campus?

Apparently, the answer is no. On the contrary, it appears that the University's first effort is to diminish any negative consequences for the student, including asking that the videos of the assault be pulled down. The school is allegedly concerned that she is getting negative blowback.

Even discussion of what happened seems to be shutting down.

To be fair, it seems this woman has identified herself in videos as someone who takes a lot of medication. She may not have been joking when she said she had been to a mental hospital before (in the clip above).

She has been identified as Temulun Togochog. She's an American citizen whose parents fled Mongolia. She seemed relatively normal until recently. I think this is overstated but he's not wrong that something seems to have happened here and it's not good.

Here's a bit of her testimony before Congress from December 2024. What happened to this person?

There's a more recent video here which is from just nine months ago. She's really laying into communist China here and sounds, if anything, like a China hawk. I'm not sure how she got from that to the video up top where she is clapping in people's faces and making death threats. I know our universities are partisan hellscapes but I think something else is going on here.

Finally, I posted a tweet yesterday praising the guy who pulled her away from the victim of the attack and suggested he'd done a good job preventing this from getting worse. I still think that's true but I've also since learned who he is.

So, good job, but also your girlfriend needs help. I don't mean that in a snarky way. I mean that I think she really needs help. She should still be charged with assault, but someone needs to check into her medical and mental health situation as well, especially if she's going to continue to be a student walking around the U of M campus.
