What Do You Think 'Decolonization' Looks Like?

One of the things I didn't understand when I was younger was that there isn't just one America, but several.

I'm not so much referring to the cultural enclaves that we all recognize--Californians are like this, Midwesterners like that. New England has a distinct culture, as do the Rust Belt and the New South. As distinct as these cultures are, they really are just variations on a theme. At one time, a Yankee would find Atlanta to be so different as to be nearly unrecognizable, but that is certainly no longer the case.

No, the real divide in the country is between those of us who live in the real world, at least mostly, and those who are still living in the Truman Show constructed by our cultural and academic elite. In the real world, the Biden years were tough economically and repulsive culturally. DEI and alphabet ideology were seen as corrosive, and racial tensions were exacerbated by a narrative that labeled all white people as racists.

In The Truman Show, Biden was George Washington, Dylan Mulvaney a woman, the economy was roaring, inflation transitory, and genitals existed to be surgically removed.

Two movies on the same screen.

The same can be said about other major issues, and in particular the Biden-created invasion of our country by "cultural enrichers"--the "diversity is our strength" people.

Ordinary Americans were horrified by the invasion at the border and the flood of Islamists who have been entering our country. Liberals, when they see illegal immigrants giving the bird to America, talking about a "reconquista" or decolonization, see future doctors and rocket scientists who will cure cancer and advance science.

Most of the rest of us see millions of people who hate us, want us to feed, clothe, and provide medical care to them while they plot the overthrow of America.

Illiterate drug dealers ferrying fentanyl and children bound for slavery across the border are the future of America, we are told. Diversity is our strength--a vapid phrase that is proven to be false.

Martha Raddatz and her ilk seem to truly believe that Tren de Aragua add spice to our lives, like Carolina Reapers and Ghost Peppers, and that a few people getting tortured is the price we pay for the cancer cure.

These people see Europe as the guiding moral light, and MAGA as retrograde because we worry that Dearborn Heights is filled with people vowing to destroy the country.

How gauche!

The decay is visible all around us. Homeless encampments, needles on the streets, people smoking fentanyl under children's playsets, and zombies taking dumps on the sidewalk. Washington, D.C. has a higher murder rate than Bogota, Columbia and every capital city in the Western hemisphere save Caracas, and yet the cultural elite says everything is great!

This is the real cultural divide in America, not North vs South or California vs Florida.
