Have you noticed that all the worst people are thrilled that Tim Walz is the nominee for Vice President under Kamala Harris?
It's true. Ilhan Omar, Jamal Bowman, and the entire anti-Israel wing of the party are dancing in the streets. Eli Lake over at The Free Press has a wonderful article laying out all the antisemites who are over the moon at the choice.
When Kamala Harris chose Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate over Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro, the radicals within the Democratic Party cheered. An Instagram account run by staffers for Rep. Summer Lee, known as “dear_white_staffers,” posted in all-caps, “WE FUCKING DID IT WE FUCKING WON LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO!!!!!”
It wasn’t a one-off. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, the Squad legislator who lost his primary in June to a more centrist candidate, posted a video of himself on X after the veep announcement, exclaiming: “It’s Walz, baby. Let’s go.” Trita Parsi, the vice president of the pro-Iran Quincy Institute, posted on X that Harris’s running mate signaled “a huge change in the political landscape of the Democratic Party.”
On Facebook, original squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar posted congratulations to Walz, “our next Vice President.” Former Ohio state senator and Bernie Sanders surrogate Nina Turner was overjoyed at the Walz pick. She posted on X, “The Harris-Walz campaign has an enormous opportunity to keep this energy and momentum going with a policy platform that centers the working class, a Black agenda, and moving to a humanitarian position on Gaza.”
It's not just that Tim Walz isn't a Jew--although, rest assured, the pro-Hamas wing of the Party lobbied hard to ensure that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who was the OBVIOUS choice for VP, didn't make it on the ticket.

No, it's also Tim Walz himself, who, while not explicitly antisemitic, is antisemitic-adjacent. By that I mean that he literally sits adjacent to antisemites and plays footsie with them. That's one of the reasons Ilhan Omar was thrilled at the choice. Walz has been a big backer of hers for years, and she has returned the favor.

You may not know it, but Minnesota has a substantial Muslim population, and it's not Persians who came here after the Shah fell. It's Somalis who have been extremely politically active, have been scamming the state government for hundreds of millions of daycare and food aid through scams--including the largest COVID-aid scam in the country and facilitated by Walz's Department of Education--and who have become so powerful that they have elected a large number of state legislators and Ilhan Omar to Congress.
These politically active Somalis are a huge force in the Minnesota Democrat Party--after all, if you can scam over a quarter of a billion dollars from the state government you have serious resources--and Walz caters to them.
And most of them are open antisemites. The seat Omar won in the Minnesota legislature was held by a Jewish Democrat incumbent, who lost her endorsement due to her being an "old white Jewish lady."

Walz knows where his bread is buttered, so he has cozied up to the antisemitic wing of the Democrat Party here in Minnesota (it is called the Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party here in Minnesota, which is a nod to its socialist roots). Walz can be found kowtowing to the antisemites, and while he avoids anything that stinks of hatred, the message is heard loud and clear. He pulls the old "anti-Islam/anti-semitic" codeword that equates a pervasive hatred of Jews with sporadic distrust of Muslims.
They are not the same. Nobody is defacing Mosques like they are Synagogs here, and nobody is afraid to walk through Jewish neighborhoods. And there is no "little Jerusalem" here, but there is a "little Mogadishu" area that is not a good place to walk, if you know what I mean.
I have absolutely no reason to believe that Walz has hate in his heart for Jews. I doubt he does, in fact.
He's just happy to embrace those who do if it helps him achieve his ambitions.
