Election Rigging? Bias in Google News Off the Charts

Townhall Media

By now you are familiar with the controversy over Google's AI being biased against White men.

The bias is so bad, so obvious, and so embarrassing for Google that they have actually throttled Gemini from generating images of people until they can make the program at least LOOK less biased. If you aren't familiar with the controversy, you should definitely read John's piece on the issue

It's turned into a big black eye for Google, not just because it is so obvious that Gemini is a DEI machine, but also because people started making fun of it and of Google.

Humor can be devastating in a way that even a brilliantly written essay by none other than yours truly could ever be. Even I, the master manipulator of messaging, can't hold a candle to a good joke. And Google's idiocy has generated countless jokes at its expense.

Unfortunately, Google's stranglehold on search and near-dominance in news distribution (along with Facebook) is no laughing matter, and Google News is about as biased as Google Gemini.

That's according to an analysis by the site "AllSides," which keeps a running tally of how news is distributed and the political biases of the media outlets.

The latest AllSides Google News bias analysis found 63% of articles that appeared on the news aggregator over a 2-week period were from media outlets on the left. This is a larger share than in 2022, when 61% of articles on Google News  were from liberal outlets. In 2023, 6% of articles were from sources on the right; in 2022, just 3%.

In the days leading up to the 2022 midterm elections, AllSides found the search term “election” returned no Google News results from Center-, Lean Right- or Right-rated media outlets. (View the AllSides 2022 Google News bias analysis here.)

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!

Google Gemini's bias is hardly an existential threat to democracy, and its obviousness is such that it hinders, not helps the Leftist cause it was intended to serve.

The same isn't the case with slanting the news, which provides the baseline knowledge that citizens use to make important political decisions.

Biasing the news by providing only the Left-wing perspective on the world and what matters fundamentally cripples our society.

It is also, undoubtedly, a way that our elections are rigged. There really is no other good word for what they are doing, because the intent and result is to provide a distorted view of the world, and there is no doubt that one of the reasons they do this is to give Democrats an electoral advantage.

Google is so dominant in search that its name has become synonymous with looking something up. I use the phrase "Google it" so often that my wife rolls her eyes, although part of that may be the snide tone I am using when I decline to do it for her.

Perhaps I should do it and not complain.

Unfortunately, the bias of Google and Facebook are largely invisible to people, in a way that failing to generate images of White men hardly is. With images you can see with your own eyes that Google doesn't show you the world as it is, but shaping the news actually changes what you are allowed to see.

We read the news to find things out, so what they decide to show you determines what you think is happening and why.

People who read alternative media have to LOOK for it specifically. It isn't handed to you on a silver platter as the MSM and further left sources are.

Search for pregnancy and the second source you see is Planned Parenthood.

I searched for the term "Christian Nationalism," and Google automatically changed the news search to "Christian Nationalist. Donald Trump" and produced this:

It's not even doing the search I asked for. It is creating a connection where none existed.

This is your brain on Google.
