Walmart is closing some Chicago stores because, well, Chicago is a crime-ridden mess and it’s impossible to make a profit safely there.
Walmart didn’t specifically say the problem was shoplifting, but we all know that it’s the lawlessness of the city. Walmart and other stores just happen to be abandoning stores in places where the shoplifting and crime problems are the worst.
City leaders aren’t happy all of a sudden. This is an example of White Supremacy and evil capitalism at work. Until 5 minutes ago Walmart itself was the root of all evil, exploiting the proles and unwilling to pay decent wages and all that.
But leave? Where is the affordable (and often free, stolen) food going to come from?
The comments on here are really telling. The people who own Walmart are some of the richest in the world and they didn’t get there by “working harder”. Work with the community instead of complaining about a few stolen TVs.

Leftists like Ms. Roberta Salas here exemplify the problem. They don’t seem to understand that civilization requires civilized behavior in order to survive. It is the responsibility of people to embrace being victimized by thugs and criminals.
It’s a bizarre stand to take. Obviously, Walmart provides an important service to the people who live in Chicago, or they wouldn’t be complaining that it is leaving. Far from being “the man” holding people down–the excuse for why the thugs and criminals can abuse them–, it turns out that having Walmart in the community is a necessary and good thing.
Don’t leave, oppressor!
It’s a weird message.

Speaking in the tone of Martin Luther King Jr. doesn’t make the message itself any more intelligent or moral. It makes one look like the clown he is.
Honestly–the preacher-man giving a speech blaming Walmart both for causing the criminal degeneracy that is driving Walmart out and for oppressing the community for leaving. Which is it? Are they to blame for the crime? Or are they evil for leaving?
Of course, being a Leftist means that one doesn’t have to make sense. One has only to be outraged and we call it virtue.
It’s pathetic.
As a practical matter, a Leftist can complain about living in a crime-ridden sh!thole all they want and blame everyone else for making it so, but the fact remains that it is a crime-ridden sh!thole for one reason only: enough people tolerate criminal behavior that anybody who can escape will do so.
Unfortunately, while these thieves may suffer, a broader population of people in this community will suffer more.

You can find countless videos of people walking into stores and clearing the shelves only to walk out without paying. Nobody dares to stop them, because the only punishment meted out will go to the person who does.
All these folks who think they are victimized by “the man” are victimizing themselves.

Not that they will learn this lesson, because their enablers in the Establishment are going to egg them on until it begins to hurt them. They will complain that the big corporations are victimizing “the community” and insist that voting for Democrats will somehow save the poor victims.
Elite leftists don’t shop at Walmart, and they benefit from the voters in places where Walmarts close being hurt. By directing the rage at Walmart and capitalism they cement their own power without hurting themselves in the least.
I have no particular sympathy for Walmart, about whom I could care less. But the honest citizens who are getting hurt by the store closings, the crime, and the decline in their neighborhoods?
I have sympathy for them. I just wish they would vote for people who would make a start at cleaning up the mess.
