Sunday was the 21st anniversary of 9/11, and as you would expect Leftists couldn’t let the anniversary go by without attacking Republicans, or at least Trump-supporting Republicans.
Lots of idiots on Twitter did so, but the madness wasn’t reserved exclusively for those who suffer from obvious mental illness. Blue Check Twitter was well represented, and Mark Warner, a supposedly moderate Senator from Virginia joined the mania.

Comparing the invasion of the Capitol by protesters on 1/6 bears as much resemblence to 9/11 as a firecracker does to an atomic bomb. They are just categorically different. Every American was glued to the TV on 9/11. We cried together. We mourned together. We came together.
And not just Americans joined in the outrage and the grief. Allies, and even competitors around the world understood how great an attack on civilization 9/11 was. The entire world, with the exception of some insane Islamists in the Middle East and elsewhere, reached out to Americans to help us grieve. There was a world pre-9/11, and a world after.
9/11 is a sacred day for most Americans who were teens or adults on that fateful day, and crapping all over that in order to make a political point is disgusting. It is an insult to the victims, to the people who joined us to fight in Afghanistan. The one and only time Article 5 of Nato was invoked–the article that states that an attack on one is an attack on all–was after 9/11. Our NATO allies rallied to our aid in rooting out terrorists because they saw 9/11 as an act of war.
1/6, in comparison, was an embarrassment, not a threat to America or democracy.
Yet the Left couldn’t let the opportunity to make the comparison, no matter how inapt.
Tristan Snell, a lawyer and MSNBC contributor with 280 thousand followers went even further, declaring outright that the January 6th riot was terrorism. MSNBC long ago gave up its right to be considered a “news” station, but I still am amazed at how low they can go in order to take a shot at Republicans.
September 11 was a terrorist attack.
January 6 was a terrorist attack.

Andrew Wortman, who has nearly 187 thousand followers compared Donald Trump to bin Laden because he “did the exact same thing” as he by instigating an attack on America.
Bin Laden didnβt fly any of the planes that were hijacked himself. But we held him accountable for planning and executing a deadly terrorist attack on our country. Twenty years later, Republicans not only enabled their leader to do the exact same thing, they helped him do it.

Some Leftists believe that the riot of 1/6 was worse than 9/11, because it somehow threatened the foundation of American democracy. I suppose that if I believed that people wandering the Capitol in viking helmets threatened our nation, I might think that too. But you have to be insane to think that the riot was much more than a temper tantrum by a few hundred people. American democracy was never at risk.
MAGAts really hate having 9/11 (a terrorist attack on America) compared to 1/6 (a terrorist attack on America).
One was done by foreigners. The other by domestic seditionists.
The first killed people and destroyed property. The second nearly ended American democracy.

There is something really sad about the state of affairs in our country when Ilhan Omar is a relative voice of sanity. But that is where we are:
9/11 changed our world forever.
Today, we remember the thousands of Americans who lost their lives and the heroism displayed by our first responders. #NeverForget
— Rep. Ilhan Omar (@Ilhan) September 11, 2022
I almost never agree with Omar, but there is not one word of that tweet that isn’t absolutely appropriate for any American.
Republicans and Democrats are already at each others’ throats. We really don’t need to go even deeper down the rabbit hole of demonizing our opponents.
