Via TMZ, is this the first “celebrity” assassination porn of the Trump presidency? “Celebrity” in quotes because, c’mon, Kathy Griffin.

I believe it took until year five of the Bush era, long after we were already in Iraq, for the Dubya assassination porn to pick up (he ended up beheaded too, sort of), but everything happens faster now in an age of ubiquitous media. You would think Griffin and the photographer would at least have avoided mimicking an ISIS pose to make things a little harder for critics, but I guess if you’re going to wade into this pool, you might as well dive in.

Look on the bright side. There are only two ways to shock with Trump-related celebrity stunts: Death scenes involving the president and sex scenes involving the president. We got off easy.

This won’t truly be a story until Trump tweets something insulting about her plastic surgery. Exit question: What’s the “sweet spot” of outrage here in which Griffin receives enough attention to shame her for a gross snuff fantasy but not so much attention as to achieve her goal of self-promotion? Will the wall-to-wall coverage this receives in Fox News primetime tonight force an apology or turn Griffin into some sort of “Resistance” darling? Damn this double-edged age we live in!

Update: Trump Jr has taken notice.
