Jen Psaki has a theory about why Republicans who are critical of former President Donald Trump are coming out now and supporting him in the November presidential election.
Trump might die.
Democrats are nervous about President Biden's re-election. They are angry that some Republicans are changing their tune about Trump. Two examples are Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and former Attorney General William Barr.
Jen Psaki is Biden's former White House press secretary. She parlayed that gig into a contract with MSNBC. She has a weekend show and she is frequently a guest on NBC political shows. Her case of Trump Derangement Syndrome is as strong as it has ever been.
Psaki said that Republicans who are moving away from criticizing Trump are doing so for the benefits they may receive if he wins in November.
“I think many of them want to be close to power. They also assume or have this thought in their mind that ‘maybe Donald Trump will go away,’” Psaki said. “Maybe he’ll go to jail. Maybe he will die. Not to be too morbid, but maybe, I mean, he’s not a young man. Who knows what’s in their minds? They think, ‘Maybe I will be behind the Oval Office. Maybe I will be in the Oval Office.’”
Democrats always accuse Republicans of doing what they are doing. Mitch McConnell is stepping down as the leader of Senate Republicans and will likely retire in the near future. Bill Barr is back in the private sector. Psaki's reasoning sounds off. She just wants to complain that when push comes to shove, most of the Republicans who are publicly criticizing Trump will consider the presidential election a binary choice. They will hold their nose and vote for Trump instead of Biden or another candidate. They are Republicans at the end of the day.
Psaki has a new book out, of course, so she will be saying things that are more outlandish than what she normally says to get some extra publicity.
'Circle Back' Jen expects discontented Republicans to vote for Biden. That is the fever dream of Democrats. The presidential race may be close and Democrats hope that disgruntled Republicans will help Biden.
She is happy about former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan coming out and declaring he will vote for Biden. He is a vocal Never Trumper. Psaki said, “There needs to be more Geoff Duncans out there.”
Sure, that makes sense in her bubble but in the real world, just because a Republican expresses frustration over Trump being the party's candidate again doesn't mean they are switching over to vote for Biden. That is just silly.
Take, for example, former Speaker Paul Ryan. He is a Never Trumper, yet he said in an interview on Tuesday that he will write in a name instead of voting for Trump. He told Yahoo Finance that it's about character for him. Ryan is a Republican and said he won't be voting for Biden. When he was asked, he said he disagreed with Biden's policies and wouldn't consider voting for him.
In his remarks Tuesday, made at the the 2024 Milken Institute Global Conference, Ryan said he disagrees with Biden on policy and would rather write-in another Republican's name. "I don't know who yet," he said.
In Wisconsin, Biden and Trump are locked neck-and-neck. A Marquette University Law Poll released last month showed Trump leading Biden 51%-49% among both registered voters and likely voters. And both candidates have visited Wisconsin in recent weeks.
Republicans who don't vote for the party's nominee help Biden but they don't have to vote for him to do that. Paul Ryan was often criticized by more conservative Republicans but the truth is that he is a Reagan Republican and was a protege of Jack Kemp. Ryan worked with Trump on the big tax breaks that were passed in the Trump years which helped the economy explode. When a Republican says he or she will not support the nominee, it doesn't necessarily mean they will vote for the Democrat. Psaki is delusional if she expects that to happen.
I expect most Republicans who can't bring themselves to vote for Trump will write in a name, or skip the presidential race on their ballot. Some may just stay home and not vote. I hope they don't stay home, though, because it is important to elect Republicans down ballot. We need to hold the House and flip the Senate.
Republicans who decide to vote for Biden instead of taking alternative action are no longer Republicans. They have become Democrats.
Psaki was a guest on The View this week. The women on that show are openly hoping that Trump ends up in jail. That is what the plan is for Democrats and their use of lawfare against Trump. Democrats in Biden's America are acting like leaders in a banana republic.
The women on the show fantasize about Trump sitting in prison.
Co-host Sunny Hostin suggested Judge Juan Merchan throw Trump in prison to "prove a point" after arguing he cannot let the former president be a "runaway train" in the courtroom.
"I don't want this to sound like I'm doing wishful thinking, but which prison would be best?" co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, as both co-hosts agreed Rikers Island would be their number one choice.
Goldberg added, "but I'm OK if he goes to Alcatraz and they re-open it."
"What about Guantanamo Bay? Ok?" Goldberg said, before suggesting the prison where convicted drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán is being held. "He wants to be with the hip people, come on."
Never Trump grifter Ana Navarro said Melania would visit Trump in prison. She also noted that the trial helped Trump in his re-election race. The former GOP consultant is right - so far, Trump is being made into a martyr and voters see the prosecution of a former president for what it is. This is Biden trying to keep his opponent, who may handily beat him in November, off the ballot.
Those who are voicing pleasure in jailing a former president, or talking about his potential death, to keep him out of the White House are the ones lecturing everyone about preserving democracy. It is Democrats who are working to change our country into a Marxist dreamland. Believe them when they tell you who they are.
