U.N. Relief Chief: ‘Hamas Is Not a Terrorist Group’

U.N. Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told Sky News Wednesday that he does not consider Hamas to be a terrorist group. Griffiths said that the 'aspirations' of Hamas have to be taken into consideration during negotiations.

Griffiths was asked about the feasibility of Israel's military eliminating Hamas and ending its governance in Gaza. He said, “Hamas is not a terrorist group for us, as you know, it is a political movement. But, I think it is very very difficult to dislodge these groups without a negotiated solution; which includes their aspirations."

“I cannot think of an example offhand of a place where a victory through warfare has succeeded against a well-entrenched group, terrorist or otherwise.”

Good to know where everyone stands, right? The United Nations continues to prove its anti-Israel stance. Griffiths indicates that the U.N.'s position is that Israel will just have to suck it up and find a way to live with Hamas on its border with Gaza. Unbelievable.

Griffiths said he has a “total understanding” of the “trauma” experienced by Israelis after the October 7, 2023 massacres by Hamas in Israel but Israel will just have to figure out a way to live with its neighbors and build relationships.

How does Israel build a relationship with Hamas after October 7? It shouldn't even be a consideration. Hamas must be destroyed and Israel must be allowed to do that job. The mission of Hamas is to eliminate Israel as a country and all the Jews living there. There is no living in those conditions. Hamas conducted its terror attack on Israel on October 7 when a ceasefire was in place. Hamas does not adhere to agreements.

Griffith said what keeps him up at night is how Israel will conduct its operations in Rafah. He credited Israel for its daily discussions with U.N. officials about Rafah. What he doesn't acknowledge is that what keeps Israelis up at night is the threats of the terrorists on its border. Israel asked the U.N. to be involved in evacuating civilians from Rafah. That is the key difference between Israel and Hamas - Israelis give advance notice of their plans and do all that they can to protect innocent civilians.

He confirmed that the United Nations will not assist in evacuating those in Rafah.

Griffith made no mention of the two hostages rescued from Rafah after President Biden told Israel to not engage in Rafah. Biden has shifted in his support of Israel in the Israel-Hamas war. Joe Biden is desperate to win back the Muslim voters in Michigan who disagree with his support of Israel to defend itself. Biden is often willing to prop up Hamas as he favors Gaza over Israel. That sounds harsh but it's true because Hamas controls Gaza. It is unconscionable. Biden is throwing the only democracy in that part of the world, and a longtime friend, under the bus to try to win his re-election as president.

He concentrated on talking about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which he said is the worst he has seen, including what is happening in Syria.

The Israel government spokesman on the October 7 massacres responded on X (formerly Twitter) to the United Nations' continued support of Hamas.

Israel's official X account also weighed in on the absurdity of Griffiths' remarks.

Israel's ambassador to the U.N. responded

The UN’s pro-Hamas stance is finally exposed on live TV. In the words of a UN Under-Secretary-General “Hamas is NOT a terrorist group for us, it’s a political movement.” Is the brutal murder of hundreds of civilians, not terror? Is the systematic rape of women not terror? Is attempting Jewish genocide not terror? Ladies and gentlemen, this is the

@UN : a terror-excusing, Hamas-promoting, victim-blaming organization that has lost every ounce of credibility. Nothing said by the UN can be trusted or accepted.

@UNReliefChief  you are no “humanitarian”. Sadly, you are a terror collaborator.

The ambassador's statement is the best pushback against the U.N. and its representatives. The Israel-Hamas war has fully exposed the United Nations for its terrorist-supporting ways. Hamas had tunnels that hid UNRWA's connection to the terrorist group. IDF found a server farm, a subterranean data center, which included industrial battery power banks and living quarters for Hamas built under a location where Israel would not target in an airstrike - UNRWA's Gaza headquarters.

The pushback from Israel over Griffiths' ignorant opinions is necessary. The United Nations supports evil and has to be called out.

The United States is the biggest financial contributor to UNRWA. The Biden administration has committed to a contribution of $153.7M. Past contributions included $344M in 2022, and $16M in 2023. This must stop.
