If Joe Biden and his DOJ thought that Governor Greg Abbott is going to stop trying to protect the sovereignty of Texas, he was told loud and clear Wednesday that it is not going to happen.

Abbott released a statement on Texas’ constitutional right to self-defense. He pointed out that he has already declared an invasion. He took that action in September 2023.

I officially declared an invasion at our border because of Biden's policies.

We deployed the Texas National Guard, DPS & local law enforcement.

We are building a border wall, razor wire & marine barriers.

We are also repelling migrants.

Abbott’s statement doubles down and says Texas has the constitutional authority to move forward.

“I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border,” Abbott said.

“The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States. The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now,” Abbott’s statement reads.

Biden is doing the opposite of his constitutional duty. He refuses to enforce federal laws on immigration that protect Texas and the other states. Texas is forced to go it alone because of Biden’s dereliction of duty. Texas hasn’t found the Supreme Court to be friendly to Abbott’s declaration of an invasion. We’ll see how this goes.

This creates a constitutional crisis. It’s a crisis over the legitimacy of the federal government. Why would the government not want to preserve the sovereignty of the United States by securing its border? No other country allows this to happen. Biden is deliberately creating chaos between the federal government and states, in this case, Texas.

The temporary ruling from the Supreme Court that lifted the injunction against Border Patrol from cutting the razor wire has not stopped Governor Abbott. He has ordered more razor wire along the border and the Texas National Guard is putting it up. Open border Democrats have their hair on fire. Since Abbott is proceeding while the Supreme Court continues its work, unhinged House Democrats want Biden to take control of the Texas National Guard.

Welp. That escalated quickly. What do they want Biden to do? Send in the U.S. military to usher the Texas National Guard troops away from the border? I’m old enough to remember when Trump was accused of wanting to turn the U.S. military against American citizens.

Anyway, saner minds weighed in that Abbott is not violating a Supreme Court ruling. Everyone just calm down. Beto O’Rourke weighed in and was easy batted away.

It's not clear to me from Gov. Abbott's letter what steps he will take "to secure the Texas border." Maybe those steps will be legal (and prudent). Maybe they won't be. But in no event will they violate the Supreme Court's order, which (again) did not direct Texas to do, or not…

If Joe Biden was serious about securing the border – he’s not – he would reverse the executive orders he signed on his first day in the White House. He could reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy and he could end catch and release. Those would be two helpful steps to take. We know it would help secure the border because it worked during the previous administration. Biden could instruct DHS to simply enforce current immigration laws. That would be a step in the right direction. Biden keeps tossing it to Congress to reform immigration law but he isn’t even willing to use the laws in place now.

It’s an election year and Biden wants to have another four years to destroy our country. I don’t think he even knows what is going on at the southern border. He certainly doesn’t care. He’ll pretend he is doing something to secure the border but it’s malarkey. The constant stream of illegal aliens will continue to fan out across America. It’s what Biden wants. This is Biden’s America.
