SCOTUS Rules Against Texas on Razor Wire - Lets Border Patrol Remove It

The Texas National Guard puts up razor wire to stop, or at least, slow the flow of illegal immigrants. Border Patrol agents cut it to help illegal immigrants come through the barrier.

Governor Abbott began an initiative to secure the state’s border with Mexico called Operation Lone Star in March 2021. That is something Abbott realized needed to happen because as soon as Biden was inaugurated, he stopped all the policies and agreements that worked during the Trump administration. The border was as secure as it could be during Trump’s term in office. Operation Lone Star is funded by the Texas Legislature using taxpayer money. Texans want the border secured.

The Texas National Guard took over control of a section of the Texas border to stop Border Patrol from using a large city park in Eagle Pass as a staging area for illegal immigrants. Biden’s DOJ is fighting that move, as it has other decisions made by Abbott. As part of the Texas National Guard takeover of that area, they no longer give Border Patrol access to the banks of the Rio Grande River where there are razor wire barriers to keep illegal out. Border Patrol was cutting the razor wire that Abbott ordered to be put up when illegal immigrants couldn’t make it through the wire unharmed. The guardsmen were keeping the razor wire barrier intact.

That is why the question was before the Supreme Court. Today they made a ruling. It was a 5-4 vote. That vote struck down a lower court ruling that barred Border Patrol from cutting or moving the state-owned razor wire. The exception was to allow illegal immigrants to receive emergency medical assistance.

When you hear Joe Biden and his minions grouse that the Supreme Court is super duper conservative, just laugh. It’s a ridiculous statement, as their ruling Monday proved. Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the three liberal justices against Texas and delivered a big win for Biden.

As Ron DeSantis recently said, we live in an upside down world. How right he is. This is a frustrating decision by the Supreme Court. The federal government is in charge of immigration, according to the Constitution. However, Biden refuses to secure the southern border so border states are doing what they can do to ease the burden on border communities and state resources. What the Supreme Court ruled, at least the 3 liberals and Roberts and Barrett, is that Joe Biden has the right to not do his job. His most important job.

The world is upside down.

DOJ used a discredited story that because Border Patrol was not allowed to answer a distress call, a woman and two children drowned in the Rio Grande River. It’s a lie. Mexican authorities said that story was wrong. They drowned on the Mexican side of the river and Mexican authorities recovered their bodies. Border Patrol didn’t know about the drownings until an hour after the fact. Biden’s DHS continues to blame Governor Abbott for trying to protect Texans and the state. Abbott is doing the job that Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas will not do.

The ruling comes as Texas soldiers have been blocking Border Patrol from a 2.5-mile stretch near Eagle Pass in an unprecedented state takeover of immigration enforcement long left to the federal government. It was not immediately clear if the state would allow Border Patrol back into the stretch, which includes a public park, in light of the ruling.

The Department of Justice argued the takeover was putting migrant lives at risk, pointing to the drownings of a woman and two children in the Rio Grande after the state began blocking Border Patrol from accessing the park. Abbott says the state has been forced to step in, accusing President Joe Biden of refusing to secure the border.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling. This isn’t over. He noted it is a temporary ruling.

Governor Abbott also said this fight is not over.

Even before the ruling today, Governor Abbott began putting up even more razor wire in response to the Biden administration’s demands. Abbott is defiant, as he should be, given the circumstances. He is a constitutional expert and insists that Texas has the constitutional right to protect its borders. Workers have been putting up razor wire with steel chain-link fencing along the river bed at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass.

Texas authorities have begun arresting illegal immigrants and charging them with trespassing.

And on it goes. Nothing will change until we get a new Republican president.

Immigration is a big issue in this presidential election. Biden is under pressure from Democrats and Republicans to do something. He recently told a reporter that he has always said the border is not secure. He wants more money from Congress to fix it. He can’t possibly believe that farcical answer. Biden, Kamala Harris, Karine Jean-Pierre, and Mayorkas are all on record saying the border is secure. They blame Republicans for the open border catastrophe.

The world is upside down.
