Biden (finally) releases a statement about the Americans killed by Hamas in Israel

Joe Biden has been AWOL since Hamas launched a war against Israel. He made a very brief statement hours after the war began, with Secretary of State Blinken at his side. Don’t send him out there on his own.

A competent president would call on the major television networks to set aside some time for him to address the nation about what happened and how he sees the situation. That is what a president does to calm the people and reassure everyone that he is on it. But, why hope for something as basic as that from this administration? We got a few words on how the United States supports Israel and that was that. He took no questions from the press, he just turned and walked out of the room.

Americans were killed in Israel by Hamas and Biden owes it to their families and loved one to say something about that. Isn’t he supposed to be all about decency and empathy? That was just a campaign lie. He’s not about any of that, as he shows us over and over again.

As of 1:00 pm on Monday afternoon, Biden had not released an official statement. As FNC’s Bill Melugin pointed out, Biden is usually so quick to respond to other situations. Take, for instance, when he tweeted out about WhipGate before the facts were known. He had the Border Patrol agents convicted and being “made to pay” right away. Biden is supposed to have graduated from law school. Shouldn’t he know about due process?

At 3:21 pm, FNC’s White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich posted a statement from the White House. As of the statement, there were 11 Americans counted among the dead.

For whatever reason, Biden recounted that some of the Americans made Israel their second home. He mentioned that he spoke with Netanyahu “yesterday.” Why isn’t he speaking with him at least once a day? That is what a normal American president would be doing. Would it interfere with his bbq schedule?

Biden and his spokesman, John Kirby, are clueless. Kirby said that Biden is still hopeful that a two-state solution is possible. It clearly is not. “The president knows that Hamas doesn’t speak for the Palestinian people.” Hamas does speak for the Palestinian people. They elected Hamas. This isn’t rocket science. As long as Hamas thrives, there is no “peace and justice” for Israelis.

Anyway, Americans don’t want to hear from John Kirby or the other White House spokespeople. We want to hear from the president. Surely someone can write something for him to say to try and reassure the world that he is aware of what is going on. America is supposed to be the world’s leader and Joe Biden has failed miserably to project that image. He leads from behind, waiting for others to act first, then he comes in and tries to take credit for his leadership skills. It’s embarrassing and dangerous. Someone else is always waiting to fill the leadership vacuum.

The White House called a very early lid – the cut-off time when there is not expected to be any news coming from the president or administration – on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday it was probably for the White House staff bbq. However, an early lid was called on Monday, too. On Monday, it was before noon. Perhaps one reason was something that was reported Monday evening. Special counsel Robert Hur, who has been investigating the case of the classified documents found at Biden’s house and offices, interviewed Biden on Sunday and Monday.

A person familiar with the matter, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss it, said the interview was conducted by Hur himself.

“The voluntary interview was conducted at the White House over two days, Sunday and Monday, and concluded Monday,” Ian Sams, a White House spokesman, said in a statement. “As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation. We would refer other questions to the Justice Department at this time.”

I know. I chuckled when I read that Sams called the White House’s efforts as transparent. Though Joe Biden promised to have the most transparent administration ever, that has not been the case at all.

So, here we are. Biden is distracted by social events and an investigation into his mishandling of classified documents while Israel is fighting for its existence against Hamas, a proxy for Iran. Has Biden finally learned that he has to stop funding Iran? Probably not. Heaven help us.
