Dylan Mulvaney no longer feels safe in the United States. That announcement came in a video by Mulvaney from Peru, because what better way to tell the world you don’t feel safe somewhere by pinpointing where you are now? Mulvaney didn’t just say it was Peru, the location of Machu Picchu was specifically referenced. Not really the sharpest tool in the shed.

“I’m in Peru … at Machu Picchu,” Mulvaney said in the TikTok posted Monday. “I’m here by myself and I used to do a ton of solo traveling. I’m telling you, it’s the best. If you could ever do a solo trip somewhere, it is such a good way to get to know yourself better.”

The influencer revealed that she traveled to Peru to feel something and that she has since participated in shamanic ceremonies that were “like 10 years’ worth of therapy.” Mulvaney said she has enjoyed the kindness of the Peruvian people and is starting to feel like her own best friend again.

“I feel very safe here,” she continued. “It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe, but that will get better eventually.”

Are we supposed to feel sorry for a TikTok influencer who collaborates with major corporation for a tidy sum of money and then has the financial freedom to just take off and leave the country when things get a little rough? YMMV, but I’m having a hard time getting too shook up about it. Decisions were made, Mulvaney’s life decisions are his own, and he lives to get attention on social media. He couldn’t even just go and seek safety if he is so concerned about his personal safety. He posted a video telling the world where he is. C’mon.

So, Dylan is in Peru seeking whatever Dylan is seeking.

Meanwhile, CNN issued an apology to him because a reporter misgendered Mulvaney. The reporter referenced Mulvaney as ‘him’ throughout the report, which was an update on the troubles Anheuser-Busch has experienced since the collaboration between Bud Light and the influencer. The cable news network apologized Wednesday saying it ‘aims to honor individuals’ ways of identifying themselves.’

Network correspondent Ryan Young failed to use she/her pronouns when speaking about Mulvaney during a short segment about the beer company’s declining sales number.

He also called the controversial influencer ‘Dylvan.’

‘He, of course, is the transgender person they were going to sponsor and go along with, with Bud Light,’ he said, using ‘he’ instead of ‘she.’

‘But [trans activists] didn’t like how Bud Light didn’t stand by him after all this,’ Young continued, repeating the offense.

Young did not correct himself – probably not realizing what he did wrong – and the show host, Kate Bolduan, didn’t correct Young.

Trans activists were not happy about the whole thing, as were some members of the media. Everyone is sad.

Ari Drennen of Media Matters posted footage of the exchange, calling it an ‘unbelievably bad CNN segment.’

Craig Harrington, the progressive media watchdog’s director of research wrote: ‘God damn, that sucked.’

‘What horrible coverage and the pundit couldn’t even correct the misgendering of Dylan. This makes me sad,’ wrote one user.

The 26-year-old influencer prefers to go by “she/they” pronouns. Mulvaney was misgendered twice in the report. The reporter didn’t even get Dylan’s name right. I think it was an honest mistake.

Kate Bolduan delivered a brief apology on Wednesday.

During her sign-off for Wednesday’s “CNN News Central,” Bolduan stated, “Yesterday in a segment about transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who was featured in Bud Light’s recent campaign, she was mistakenly referred to by the wrong pronoun. And CNN aims to honor individuals’ ways of identifying themselves and we apologize for that error.”

One leftist on social media referred to the misgendering as hate speech. Sometimes, a mistake is just a mistake. Not everything has to go from 0 to infinity when someone is offended on social media.
