Trump endorses Bolduc in last days before election as Hassan campaigns like a Republican

It’s eight days before the 2022 midterm election and Donald Trump announced his endorsement for Don Bolduc in New Hampshire. Bolduc, a Republican, is running against the Democrat incumbent Senator Maggie Hassan. A flip of this seat could mean Republicans control the majority in the Senate.

Has Trump figured out that sometimes he has to put his own ego aside and do what is best for the Republican Party (and the country)? Trump puts everything on loyalty to him and anyone saying anything about the 2020 presidential election had better be on the same page. Bolduc certainly was in the GOP primary race but once he successfully became the Republican nominee for the Senate, he changed his story. Bolduc now says that he has done research and came to the conclusion that some irregularities may have happened in the 2020 presidential election but that Biden won the election.

Trump said in his announcement that Bolduc asked for his endorsement.

“General Don Bolduc has run a great campaign to be the U.S. Senator from the beautiful State of New Hampshire. He was a strong and proud ‘Election Denier,’ a big reason that he won the Nomination, but he then disavowed,” the former president said in the post.

“He has since come back, at least on busing, but that is only a small part of N.H. Election Fraud. Nevertheless, Don Bolduc has asked for my Endorsement, and he’s got it, Complete & Total. His opponent is a disaster on Crime, the Border, Inflation, & all else. Vote for Don Bolduc!”

Bolduc is one of the candidates mentioned this election cycle that was not necessarily a great choice for the Republican Party to run against Hassan, mostly because he was an election denier. Democrats spent millions of dollars in Republican primaries to help Trump-supported candidates, thinking it would be a cake walk for Democrats to run against election deniers. Hassan has been vulnerable, though, and Bolduc has managed to bring the race to toss-up status, according to Real Clear Politics. Democrats should be careful what they wish for. Real Clear Politics aggregated averaging and predictions has Hassan holding the seat but it looks like the race is going to be a squeaker.

Maggie Hassan, who supports Joe Biden’s radical progressive agenda at every opportunity, is even sounding like a Republican candidate in her last campaign ad video which was released two days ago. Except for her pledge to go after Big Oil, she could be a Republican.

There is no mention of abortion, the fight for our democracy (though we are a constitutional republic), or Donald Trump. She’s scared. She knows her victory is a crapshoot at this point, if Bolduc wins, thanks to the red wave that is coming. Are New Hampshire voters discontented enough at Joe Biden’s policies and the long list of crises his policies have created? We’ll know in eight days.

Recent polls have shown Hassan with a slight edge in the state, but the National Republican Senatorial Committee recently shifted more resources to the race after having canceled a portion of its spending earlier this year.

Bolduc would be a reliable Republican vote in the Senate and his victory could lip the Senate majority. This is one of the toss-up races to keep an eye on.
