This isn't the first time Trump has lashed out at Tucker Carlson. That story has been building up for weeks, ever since Trump decided to launch an attack on Iran and Carlson described it as "disgusting and evil." Last month, Trump said that Carlson had "lost his way."
Last week, things escalated when Trump highlighted an article by Douglas Murray which was titled "Deranged Tucker Carlson backstabs Trump." Here's a sample of that one:
While the president has advocated a strong defense of America’s regional allies, Carlson has spent 100% of his time trying to turn the MAGA base against Israel and in favor of Islamist regimes.
His podcast has become a remorseless roll call of Holocaust deniers, antisemites, Islamic extremists and World War II revisionists.
While attacking Trump, Carlson eagerly softball-interviews people who love both Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.
Carlson responded this week by suggesting Trump might be evil and planned to nuke Iran. That didn't happen of course but there were lots of people talking about it Tuesday morning as if it might happen. (Those same people resorted later in the day to saying Trump "chickened out.")
This afternoon, Trump launched a broadside against Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones and Candace Owens. He attacked all of them as idiots and losers. He specifically attacked Owens for her allegations about the First Lady of France being a man and said he hoped Owens lost a lot of money in the lawsuit.

I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. They’re stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too! Look at their past, look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did! They’ve all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some “free” and cheap publicity. Now they think they get some “clicks” because they have Third Rate Podcasts, but nobody’s talking about them, and their views are the opposite of MAGA — Or I wouldn’t have won the Presidential Election in a LANDSLIDE. MAGA agrees with me, and just gave CNN a 100% Approval Rating of “TRUMP,” not Hand Flailing Fools like Tucker Carlson, who couldn’t even finish College, he was a broken man when he got fired from Fox, and he’s never been the same — Perhaps he should see a good psychiatrist! Or Megyn Kelly, who nastily asked me the now famous, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” question, or “Crazy” Candace Owens, who accuses the Highly Respected First Lady of France of being a man, when she is not, and will hopefully win lots of money in the ongoing lawsuit. Actually, to me, the First Lady of France is a far more beautiful woman than Candace, in fact, it’s not even close! Or Bankrupt Alex Jones, who says some of the dumbest things, and lost his entire fortune, as he should have, for his horrendous attack on the families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, ridiculously claiming it was a hoax. These so-called “pundits” are LOSERS, and they always will be! Now Fake News CNN, The Failing New York Times, and all of the other Radical Left “News” Organizations, are “hailing” them, and giving them “positive” press for the first time in their lives. They’re not “MAGA,” they’re losers, just trying to latch on to MAGA. As President, I could get them on my side anytime I want to, but when they call, I don’t return their calls because I’m too busy on World and Country Affairs and, after a few times, they go “nasty,” just like Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, but I no longer care about that stuff, I only care about doing right for our Country. MAGA is about WINNING and STRENGTH in not allowing Iran to have Nuclear Weapons. Owens really is an idiot. She humiliates herself on a weekly basis. And Alex Jones' decision to question victims of a tragedy suggests he's no genius either. But I don't think either Tucker Carlson or Megyn Kelly are dumb. Both were pretty successful for a long time and were well liked.
That said, Tucker especially has changed a lot in the past few years, since leaving Fox News. Douglas Murray was right that anti-Israel politics seems to be the core of all his views now, just as is true for Owens and increasingly for Megyn Kelly. Many of the things Carlson says about Israel are dishonest and false. Even his own allies have shot down some of his nonsense claims. But I don't think he's dumb. He's just been ideologically captured and he'll say almost anything to make his case.
In my view that actually makes him more dangerous. He's not offering Russian propaganda because he's too thick to know what he's doing. He's offering Russian propaganda because he really seems to enjoy doing it.
Anyway, the no publicity is bad publicity concept certainly applies for all of these folks. They all have their own media empires and can probably milk this one Trump tweet for weeks if not longer. They'll all be fine.
