An officer for Bishop International Airport was stabbed Wednesday in a possible terror-related incident in Flint, Michigan, sources told NBC News.

The attacker allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing the officer, who was bleeding from the neck, sources and witnesses at Bishop International Airport said.

Law enforcement officials said the suspect is from Quebec and has a Canadian passport.

So far NBC News is the only network reporting the attacker yelled “Allahu Akbar” and the FBI says it is still too early to say if this was terrorism:

“We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism,” the FBI said in a statement.

The officer injured in the attack has now been identified. From Click On Detroit:

The officer stabbed at Bishop International Airport in Flint has been identified as Lt. Jeff Neville…

Neville is a lieutenant with the airport authority. According to his LinkeIn profile, he has worked with the airport authority since 2006 and as a police officer at Bishop International Airport since 2001.

Officer Neville was initially said to be in critical condition but Michigan Live reports he has been updated to stable condition. The Governor tweeted support for the injured officer:

Update: Michigan live reports the suspect has been identified by authorities:

Investigators have identified the man they say attacked a police officer at Bishop Airport as Amor M. Ftouhi, a 50-year-old Canadian citizen…

Ftouhi yelled “Allahu Akbar” before making the attack, according to the affidavit…

“He further exclaimed something similar to, ‘you have killed people in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die.’ “

So this attack is exactly what it appeared to be at first glance.
