Daily Beast: Whistleblowers admit accepting aid after they were silenced

The response from most of the mainstream media to this week’s bombshell revelations about the FBI’s retaliation against whistleblowers was the same. There was a deafening silence for the most part, as news networks desperately tried to avoid discussing the issue. The response from Democrats on the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government was primarily scorn and disdain. But over at the Daily Beast, they broke ranks with most of the liberal media and dared to mention the story. Of course, the coverage was what you would expect. They expressed disdain for FBI agents Garret O’Boyle and Steve Friend, locking in on the “revelation” that the men had accepted financial assistance from former Trump adviser Kash Patel.

Two former FBI employees acting as so-called whistleblowers about the federal government’s unfair persecution of conservatives on Thursday admitted that they had received money from a former adviser to Donald Trump. At a hearing of Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, suspended FBI special agent Garret O’Boyle and former FBI special agent Steve Friend both said they’d taken money from Kash Patel.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) pressed both on the payments, with Friend saying that he had received a “donation” from Patel last November. “Are you a charitable organization?” Goldman asked. “I was an unpaid, indefinitely suspended man trying to feed his family,” Friend answered.

Note the use of the phrase “so-called whistleblowers” in this brief article. Liberals in both Congress and the media continue to attempt to paint these agents as running off to Congress to engage in some sort of political stunt. They totally ignore the fact that the agents first went to their supervisors for private meetings where they raised legitimate concerns over damaging policies that distracted the Bureau from its designated law enforcement duties.

Also unmentioned by the Beast was the response the agents received in short order. Rather than a discussion about Bureau policies, they had their security clearances suspended and were put on unpaid leave. One of the agents and his family wound up being homeless. These are banana republic tactics, not the actions of a responsible federal agency.

And then there’s the focus on Kash Patel. What of the fact that he is a former adviser to the Bad Orange Man? Is that now a crime? He heard about the stories of these men and reached out to help people who were being victimized by their government employers because they had dared to ask questions. When you’re out on the street and can’t even access your clothing, who really cares where the money is coming from? It’s never even been suggested that Patel, Trump, or anyone else got anything in exchange for that generosity.

Liberals, particularly those in the media, are working feverishly in an effort to circle the wagons, but it’s not going to work. They can hear the footsteps approaching. Despite their best efforts, word is leaking out about the ongoing revelations regarding corruption inside Biden Inc. and the politicized rot in the leadership of the FBI and the Justice Department. If the Democrats are made to pay a price for all of this poison at the ballot box next year (as they desperately need to be), there is going to be a complete housecleaning in the leadership of the FBI and the DoJ. Those formerly honorable agencies may still be able to be salvaged, but in the meantime, they need to be defunded and defanged.
