A judge ruled Governor Ron DeSantis and agencies under his control cannot keep Florida, public school officials, from issuing mask mandates.
“Parent’s rights are important, but not without limitation on safety, reasonableness, and compelling state interest,” Judge John Cooper said in the ruling on Friday.

Prior to the ruling, parents were able to opt their students out of face mask requirements, citing the Parents’ Bill of Rights to “protect parents’ right to make decisions regarding masking of their children in relation to COVID-19.”
