Obama shores up Jewish support at D.C. synagogue

In a religion that has no shortage of holidays, Obama is using an obscure secular occasion — Jewish American Heritage Month, designated by former President George W. Bush in 2006 — to speak at Congregation Adas Israel. Aligned with Judaism’s conservative movement, the synagogue boasts power player attendees like Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former New Republic editor Franklin Foer and New York Times columnist David Brooks.
