Who in the world thought this would make a great photo op for Tim Walz?

Besides Donald Trump, that is?

Frankly, I'm surprised this is still up after a few hours. Twitchy picked up Alex Soros' weird photo op overnight, and I'd expect this to get sucked into the Democrat Memory Hole sometime today. In the meantime, have a great look at the Man Of The People hangin' with the Soroses:

In fact, I'm so convinced that this will go down the digital drain that I have screen-capped it, just in case. You never know. If you're inclined to offer your own response on Twitter/X, I'd suggest doing so quickly. 

It's still up for now, though, and the tweet is getting ratioed pretty hard. It has over 2700 likes but almost twice as many replies. Even a few notables on the Left are scratching their heads at this strategy, such as Matt Yglesias:

Fair point, but Alex's judgment isn't the one in question. Why did Walz step off the campaign trail at this point of the election, especially in battleground states where middle- and working-class people are keys to victory, to do a Big Apple fundraiser -- with the Soroses? George and Alex Soros fund lots of hard-Left progressive causes already, and have other ways to help. Plus, they are not exactly a popular brand with independents and populists who'd rather eat the rich than meet the rich.

And remember that Kamala Harris picked Walz to boost her cred with rural and exurban voters. Both David and I have written a couple of analyses about what an ignorant assumption that was already, but Walz at least could look the part. Why would the campaign send him to sniff the butts of billionaires in Big Apple penthouses when they're trying to paint Walz as One Of All Y'all Proles? 

How does this help Harris win Pennsylvania? Perhaps the money will come in handy, but it won't be enough to counter the optics of Walz paying homage to the Soros empire when he should be glad-handing regular stiffs in western PA. Even the images that Alex Soros chose for his tweet look painful and forced. Walz and Soros seem to be distancing themselves from each other, as though they're still obeying the 6-foot rule from the pandemic. 

It's just plain weird, to use the term that Walz himself attempted to project onto Republicans. It doesn't look like Walz is minding his own damn business, but that he's preparing to mind the Soros' businesses and enterprises. Just like Harris and Joe Biden have done for the past four years, in fact.

That brings us to Tim Walz' singular contribution to truth and honesty in this campaign. If you didn't believe this before Walz went to kiss the Soros ring, you better believe it now.
