What stories topped your priority lists this week? Heck, what didn’t make the list? Duane “Generalissimo’ Patterson and I have a long list of notable developments this week, starting with the just-dropped indictment of sitting US Senator Bob Menendez for … well, Menendez-ing, basically. The discussion ranges from missing F-35s to retreating Disneys, and from performative politicians to a performance-art “anti-racism” research center and lots of evaporated cash. Bring your scorecards to this week’s review!

Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.
Here are some of the highlights:
- “Nobody wants Fetterman dressing like a 14 year old on the floor of the Senate,” I declare. “That’s ridiculous. … Chuck Schumer turned himself into the Grand Poobah of Upper Slobovia.”
- “In New Jersey, Bob Menendez,” Duane notes, “if he took his clothes off or he dressed down, it was usually with, you know, underge hookers in the Dominican Republic.”
- “If Bob Menendez had taken his suit coat off on the Senate floor,” I retort, “a whole bunch of cash would have fallen out.”
- It’s easy to make fun of Joe Biden and his lack of cognition, we both agree, but we also say that it’s no longer a joke. The latest examples of his cognitive decline are actively “alarming,” Duane argues. But why isn’t the media covering it?
- Come on, man. We all know the answer to that, and Susanna Gibson gave us a perfect example this week. “The media just knows, and they want to believe, that Donald Trump has a pee tape out there,” Duane says. Now, “you actually have a Democrat … who made a bunch of porn videos,” and the media is defending her — even though she actively and specifically marketed her willingness to make a pee tape. Instead, they are “outright defending her, saying she’s the victim here.”
- The Ibram X. Kendi story, Duane says, can be best understood as a modern retelling of The Music Man. “It’s Professor Harold X. Kendi,” he quips in our discussion.
We have a lot more, on many other topics, so be sure to watch it all and extend the conversation in the comments!
