Border crisis, Mayorkas, and national nihilism: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

“I don’t know what Mayorkas does for a living,” I tell Adam Baldwin, “but it isn’t Homeland Security.” Ted Cruz and other Republicans tore into Alejandro Mayorkas on Capitol Hill in confrontations overshadowed by the coverage of the Trump indictment and the Nashville mass shooting. The border crisis is at least as important if not more so, given the atrocities taking place each day at the frontier. “The ‘rape trees’ Cruz was talking about,” Adam notes, hold “the underwear of children in trees after they’ve been raped as a taunt against Americans to see that this is what’s going on the border. The cartels don’t care. Biden doesn’t care.”

Welcome back to my VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

They don’t care, I argue, because progressives ultimately reject the idea of national borders in favor of global Utopianism.  “There’s a basic fundamental philosophy among progressives that national borders should be eliminated,” I argue. “This is deep-core progressive belief,” I continue, “that national borders are basically invalid and that the land should revert to whatever they define as the original people, and whatever it is, it’s not the people who are there right now.”

“The Left has always been defined by its destructive agendas,” Adam states, quoting David Horowitz. “Its utopian vision was just that utopian, a vision of nowhere. Socialism is a plan of morally sanctioned theft. It is about dividing up what others have created. … And that’s their vision. They’re nihilistic, self destructive. And they point the finger at you for pointing the finger, for pointing the finger at them.”

Adam then continues regarding Marxist nihilism. “The left is very effective in their argumentation and they have a lot of allies in the media to promote and promulgate those criticisms, but they’re just destructive,” Adam declares. “They say progressivism is progressivism, it’s destruction… It’s destroy everything and then rebuild it again in their own image, but they don’t and they don’t care about the collateral damage of people that gets destroyed in the meantime.”

We then go on to discuss China, South America, the Monroe Doctrine (indirectly), fascism at home and abroad, and much more. We also reminisce about the Japan panic of the 1980s, and how China might be the real threat that we fantasized back then. Be sure to watch it all and join the conversation in the comments!
