Don't Say Sophie!

No matter how much of a disaster you think the WNBA has been lately, the geniuses at the League are determined to prove that they can make the problems worse.

AOC is right that Woke One was crazy; what she leaves out is that Woke Two, Three, and Four are or will be crazier yet.

Things went from bad to worse over the weekend, with a whole slew of WNBA-related news, all of which have to do with how Woke is destroying the reputation of the League.

The Atlanta Dream, for instance, refused to stand for the National Anthem at one game and subsequently refused to even walk onto the court until the Anthem had finished playing.

They did find time, though, to honor the President of Earth herself, Stacey Abrams, who, aside from her stint as a Star Trek near-goddess, is famous solely for losing two elections and spending years denying she did. She was an election denier when election denial was cool.

Oh, wait, I forgot: she should have been famous for being a fraudster, getting awarded $2 billion from the EPA for a bogus NGO she just invented out of thin air, but the media pretty much buried that.

However much you hate these people, it is not enough.

But wait! There's MORE!

Next, we have the WNBA kicking women out for wearing XX/XY shirts, which celebrate women's sports. It's not like these shirts scream "Transphobe" or anything. Literally, all they do is use the labels for chromosomes. The message is implicit, but chances are that only people who follow the trans issue even know what the shirts mean.

The simple reference to  a scientific fact, akin to wearing a periodic table T-shirt, is too offensive for the Atlanta Dream team to bear.

You can't make this up. And, to be fair, you don't need to, since real life is more absurd than anything the Babylon Bee can come up with.

Speaking of which, there is a subreddit dedicated to WNBA fans discussing the League (who knew there were fans?), and the moderators have banned discussion of Sophie Cunningham, probably the second-most prominent player in the WNBA.

Sophie, you see, is controversial because she believes that a league that is supposed to be where women play basketball should feature women playing basketball. This is such an offensive idea that her very name must be excised from history itself. She is Voldemort, she who must not be named.

Woke 2 is craaaazzzzy.

Cunningham, fresh from a game where her opposing team wouldn't have anything to do with the National Anthem, decided to have a night out where she wound up having a few brewskis and singing to Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," which is one of the most American songs of the past couple of decades.

That song was all over YouTube this summer because a bunch of Europeans were doing reaction videos to American stuff during the World Cup. It became a thing, and of course we loved that the propaganda bubble was popped for those who made it here. A lot of these videos predate this summer, but they resurfaced for obvious reasons.

It's a blast watching these reaction videos to American songs. Europeans have had patriotism beaten out of them, and so when they see Americans being patriotic it blows them away, and mostly in a good way. That was a consistent theme we saw over during the World Cup—everybody noticing that flags are everywhere, we do military flyovers, and stand for the national anthem and sing it before each sports game.

Irony, eh, that Sophie Cunningham is as pro-American as based Europeans, while the WNBA is filled with Critical Theory/Gender Ideology bigots who hate us all.

I love those "Europeans React" videos. Something tells me that most WNBA players couldn't stand them.

As I wrote in my earlier essay, the WNBA is getting absolutely shredded by Enes Kantor Freedom and Royce White, who are playing their roles as former NBA players discovering their feminine sides to the hilt. It has tied the League into knots because they want to support men in women's sports, but just not THOSE men.

Were it not for Cunningham and Caitlin Clark, of course, the WNBA would still be as obscure as the NBA G League, which until last week, I didn't even know existed.

It's a conundrum. The WNBA depends on white heterosexual women to succeed, and it hates white heterosexual "cisgender" people in general.

So...should they speak of Sophie? Or shut up about her?

It's glorious to see these woke jerks squirm.
