This Is Objectively Hilarious

I am convinced that James O'Keefe was actually destined to be a Gonzo Journalist, along the lines of Hunter Thompson. 

Unfortunately for the world of Gonzo journalism, O'Keefe came along too late to get away with spending his life whacked out on dangerous drugs, driving at 130 miles an hour while trashed out of his mind, and he doesn't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore. So instead, James is doing his version of investigative journalism, which is pretty much as amusing, without the need for drugs. 

O'Keefe and Cam Higby set out to demonstrate how insane the Minnesota election system is — something I discovered when I moved here for college in 1982. It's a process that liberals here are very proud of because it removes basic barriers to illegal voting, such as being who you say you are, living where you say you do, and having your vote be private. 

Liberals don't put it that way, of course. Instead, they wax poetic about ensuring that everybody gets to vote and that every vote counts, but then again, con artists are always good at selling their snake oil. 

My first experience voting here came in the 1982 election, a couple of months after I arrived, a naive Arizonan unready to face a Minnesota winter. I knew nothing about Minnesota candidates, and it was an off-year election, so I had no stake in the election at all; my dorm buddies dragged me to vote, and I went along, completely unregistered and without a Minnesota ID. None of us had a Minnesota ID, in fact. 

It occurred to me at the poll that I had no proof of residence, but the guy in front of me, whom I had never seen in my life, said: "Don't worry, I'll vouch for you guys." And so he did. For all of us. And we voted. I'm pretty sure that some of my friends may have voted absentee in their home states as well. 

Not much has changed since then, although we no longer permit unlimited vouching—one person can only vouch for eight others. Eight. 

It used to be that you could pull up in a bus with 50 voters and have one person vouch for them all, so I guess eight is an improvement.

@JamesOKeefeIII did an undercover operation to expose Minnesota’s corrupt vouching system.  

According to law, 1 registered MN voter can vouch for up to 8 persons — those 8 people do NOT need ID.

Dressed in a niqab, @camhigby showed that a transgender Muslim woman can easily be vouched for as a faceless voter without ID. 

There is no record for persons being vouched for. 

There is no system in place to stop 1 registered MN voter from vouching for 8 persons at multiple precincts. 

There is nothing to stop the vouching system from being abused. 

This is a constitutional crisis.

What's beautiful about that video is how obviously fraudulent James and Cam are, and the absolute inability of the election officials to challenge their obvious attempt to commit voter fraud. You can see on the officials' faces that they KNOW they are being had, but they have to go along with the absurdity. 

They are like the WNBA folks who know Enes Kantor Freedom isn't a woman but are incapable of calling it out using their own standards. The rules are the rules, you know, and in Rules for Radicals we are told to make your enemy live by his own rules.

Liberals are, of course, furious, pointing out, rightly, that James and Cam are abusing the system to make it look bad. Of course they are. That is the point: the system is corrupt, and should be called out. If it takes a Gonzo journalist to do so, then so be it. 

What makes O'Keefe's latest investigative pieces so perfect is that they are, objectively, hilarious. O'Keefe shows up as a basically undisguised gay date, and a government official spills his guts while worrying that O'Keefe is a plant. How does it get better than that? It's a Babylon Bee satire in real life.

The joke isn't on O'Keefe; it's on the liberal establishment that is so corrupt and ossified that it is incapable of even the most basic common sense and rationality. They have gotten away with absurdities so long that they are almost defenseless when somebody with some basic wit takes them on. 

I used to cringe a bit when I watched O'Keefe's antics, because I am still a product of my very establishment upbringing. But I no longer do. 

If it takes a James O'Keefe to lure these frauds into exposing themselves, then more power to him.
