Even before last night's events, I was going to write about the media's Pravda-like qualities again.

What inspired me was this particular "news" report about Representative Dave Min getting a warm and fuzzy puff piece about how he rides around Washington on a scooter, as if he were a hip, cool, eco-warrior.

The report itself is the kind of funny and upbeat story that is absolute gold for both the subject and the cause, and it works so well because it is, as with so much, based on a complete lie.

Our scooter-loving congressman who fights for you is actually a drunkard whose driver's license was suspended for driving drunk at twice the legal limit, driving through stoplights, and endangering the public.

We see this sort of thing all day, every day. Most of the immigration sob stories you hear are completely distorted. We hear some seemingly outrageous behavior by the Trump administration, only to learn that the people they are trying to deport committed heinous crimes. It is DARVO in action.

I would honestly love for someone to explain to me how they justify an immigration system where an Egyptian family that was here on tourist visas, and where the father committed a deadly terrorist attack on American soil, is entitled to permanently stay in America…

And the answer can’t just be they filed for asylum when such an asylum claim has zero evidence attached to suggest it meets any associated standard.

The family of an actual terrorist, all of whom broke immigration law, are the most sympathetic people in the world. Anybody who thinks that maybe we could live without taking in every single person who sets foot in the country is evil.

It's easy when you only tell the part of the story you want to. Giving people the whole story leads to wrongthink, so they don't.

It's impossible for the media not to cover an actual assassination attempt at which they were all unwitting participants, but The New York Times certainly is doing its best to downplay it. You would think that something this dramatic, with 1500 top reporters and their friends, would be front-page news, and you would be wrong. Renaming a town in Ukraine gets higher billing. Seriously.

The Washington Post and other outlets started with the "loud sounds" meme again, then switched to gun control when they couldn't sustain the illusion. Now we are seeing the "I don't approve of violence, but..." excuses, and soon enough, we will get the "Trump has to tone it down" stories from the very people who compare him to Adolf Hitler.

Dana Bash, clearly shaken from having been in the room where the target of an assassination attempt sat a few feet away, asked Jamie Raskin about the heated rhetoric in the most muted way, and allowed him to say this:

If they had any balls, they would have done a supercut of Raskin, but no. At least she asked the question, but allowing him to get away with that crap was pathetic.

A huge fraction of our fellow citizens relies on Pravda for their information. They shape reality for those people, and form the basis of their "common sense"—the basic assumptions by which they guide their thinking.

I guarantee you that if you ask your Democrat and moderate friends who commits political violence in America, they will immediately say that "all the studies show that it is almost exclusively conservatives." They don't know what is in those studies, who did them, what the assumptions were (most of the incidents are racial violence in prison, and only count white gangs as politically motivated), or anything about them.

They just keep on hearing that line and believe it. Chances are, if you ask them to name 3 incidents, they can't. You could pull out 3 done by leftists without thinking about it, and 20 by Islamists in a snap.

It is just "common sense," created by Pravda.

Say it enough times from "experts" and "authorities," and it becomes real. If you control the flow of information, you can create an alternate reality.
