Earlier today, I wrote about Peggy Noonan's lament for the decline of The Washington Post and expressed more than a little contempt for her unwillingness to open her eyes to the fact that the "journalists" whom she admires so much are a bunch of lying hacks. Noonan, rather than calling them out, spends her energy defending the indefensible.
How indefensible? The Washington Post has just published a glowing profile of Adam Schiff and his "leadership" of the Democrats' efforts to fight Trump, and his commitment to governing America well.

Adam Schiff is, by any fair measure, one of the worst people in Washington D.C. Scott Adams labeled him the Democrats' "Designated Liar," referring to his being one of the key members of a clique who are willing to sell the most outrageous lies with the enthusiasm of Bernie Madoff telling his clients he has a secret way to make them even richer.
There is no lie he will not enthusiastically tell. He, famously, was the man who kept on repeating that he had PROOF that President Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election, and when the Mueller report came out, the Post and other media outlets remained grateful to him for helping them get Pulitzers for pushing outrageous falsehoods.
Californians rewarded Schiff for his lies with a US Senate seat, replacing Dianne Feinstein, whose grasp of the truth by the time she died was no better than most Californians'; only she had an excuse in her senility, while they have none.
In many ways, Schiff, 65, perfectly represents the bifurcated nature of being a Democrat in the age of Trump.
As one of his party’s best known figures, Schiff spends a great deal of time and energy sounding the alarm about presidential rhetoric and actions that he believes are a danger to democracy. As an elected official, Schiff also is focused on delivering for constituents, and must complete the same routine work senators have been doing for centuries. All elected Democrats are in the same boat: They are simultaneously attempting to tell Americans that something is off with their government, and trying to keep conducting business as normal.
I am happy to admit that Schiff is the perfect representation of the Democrats, but the rest of those paragraphs are, as you would expect, the opposite of the truth. I mean, c'mon, man, the Democrats just put us through the longest government shutdown in American history based entirely on the lie that it was the Republicans' fault that the Democrats wouldn't fund the government. It was a scam to win the 2025 elections, which gave us the fake "moderate" Abigail Spanberger and the communist Zohran Mamdani.
Schiff described the strange duality of his role as “doing everything possible to deliver for Californians, and at the same time do everything possible to protect Californians from the wrath of this administration.”
The senator has gone from representing fewer than 800,000 mostly liberal Angelenos to now representing more than 40 million constituents. California is such a big state that only Texas and Florida provided more votes for Trump, narrowly, than the 6.1 million Californians who supported him in 2024.
In his new role, Schiff has to work with administration officials and other Republicans on key projects, such as saving a couple rural hospitals and fighting to keep open Department of Agriculture offices in remote parts of the state.
That The Washington Post portrays Adam Schiff as a crusader for democracy tells you everything you need to know about why the Post is dying in darkness. I even know a die-hard Democrat who stopped giving to the Senate Democrats and switched to funding only individual candidates because they couldn't stomach helping Adam Schiff win.
Schiff assured Americans many times that the Steele Dossier was real, and conspired with The Washington Post and Trump's enemies to take him down with hoax after hoax. To say that he is worse than the scum that accumulates at a waste treatment plant is to be unkind to the scum, which is at least honest about its disgusting nature.

If you were to tell me that Schiff was a demon come to life, I would consider the claim at the very least credible but unproven. It has, to use that famous phrase, "all the hallmarks" of a true statement.
Schiff's tactics might be described as McCarthyite, but again, that is grossly unfair to McCarthy, who may not have had the NAMES of communist spies in the State Department, but his accusation was at least directionally true. Not so with Schiff. When he opens his mouth, you could do worse than believe the opposite of what he says.
This profile of Schiff is a perfect example of why our Pravda Media must be utterly destroyed.
