Trump Had TACOs for Saturday Dinner

The whole "Trump Always Chickens Out" meme was always stupid and self-contradictory. The Democrats tried to make it a thing because, well, the Left can't meme. They overthink things. They are into Narrative™. Their spin is always so transparent.

And, in the case of the TACO meme, it contradicted their basic argument that Trump is laser-focused on an agenda that will destroy America. If Trump always chickens out, why get so upset when he says he will do something? Either he is a fascist autocrat determined to undermine the Constitution and hand America over to Vlad the Mad Putin, or he is a paper tiger who talks tough but chickens out.

Pick one.

UpChuck Schumer's now-famous TACO video is getting lots of love, but what makes it even better is that the same people criticizing Trump for "chickening out" by negotiating with Iran are now calling Trump's strike on Fordow a violation of the Constitution.

Democrats' attempts to make TACO stick were never going to work because of all the things Americans think about Trump, good or bad, "weak" is not a word that anybody associates with him.

Trump knows how to get under others' skin, and I suspect that the most important target of the social media effort to make TACO a thing was Donald Trump's ego. The thought is that Trump himself is thin-skinned (and he can be), so maybe needling him about being unmanly would throw him off his game.

They've tried this before, implying that Trump's genitalia are undersized. Trump has "small hands," as if Trump would become so enraged by the insults that he would make missteps to prove his manhood.

Things like this are too clever by half. The idea that Eric Swalwell could get far under Trump's skin by eating a taco is delusional.

Trump derangement syndrome is the equivalent of having a lobotomy. David Frum, whatever else you could say about him, is not stupid. But writing that Trump, whether he struck Iran or not, would do so because he was afraid is moronic. During his first term, Trump struck a Syrian military base and killed some of Putin's Wagner Group mercenaries. He killed Qasem Soleimani, and he moved the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

He can make tough calls that others are scared to make, and doesn't care about the criticism those decisions will earn him.

So why go there?

Again, it is the TDS lobotomy. Democrats start with the assumption that if Donald Trump says or does it, it must be bad. Therefore, anything they say to denigrate him must be plausible. If Trump zigs when they expected him to zag, say he was scared.

Yeah, that'll work.
