Adam Schiff is one of the most prolific, and, ironically, one of the worst liars in Congress.
He’s terrible at it for two reasons: 1) he looks immeasurably pleased with himself when he is lying, as if he is actually getting away with it; and 2), he is always lying. If he said the sky was blue you could be sure that a red and orange sunset was outside the window.
Schiff’s latest (well, you will read this hours after I am writing this, so probably not his latest, but you know what I mean) ridiculous lie is about the vast increase in hate speech on Twitter under the new management. Of course I have no idea where he comes up with his crap, although I suspect that it actually emanates from his own nether regions. But he has produced a surprisingly precise accounting of “hate” speech proliferation on Twitter.
False, hate speech impressions are actually down by 1/3 for Twitter now vs prior to acquisition @CommunityNotes
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 8, 2022
There is something alluring about precision. It implies accuracy, when in fact it is simply using very specific numbers. 61% sounds very precise, lending an air of accuracy. It is a tactic used all the time by people trying to impress. Precision is not the same thing as accuracy.
By now you would think that the general public would know that 98% of all statistics are proven to be inaccurate, while 110% of Adam Schiff’s utterances are bullsh!t. But I am reliably informed that 67.235% of Americans trust both Adam Schiff and precise numbers. That means that 76.2% of people have their heads up their asses. I am 86.74% certain that is accurate.
See how it works? If you see a number it acquires an unearned sense of credibility. That’s how some kid’s science fair project about straws becomes accepted wisdom in the MSM.
No, I am not kidding. The New York Times has a story about precisely that:
If you’ve read a recent article about Starbucks, Marriott or Seattle banning plastic straws, you might have come across a striking statistic: Americans use about 500 million straws each day.
That figure has been cited widely, appearing in stories by USA Today, CNN, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News and, yes, even The New York Times.
But consider the source: The number is based on research conducted years ago by an enterprising 9-year-old Vermont boy named Milo Cress.
Never, ever believe a statistic until you know the source and whether it has any credibility. Bogus numbers show up everywhere, including scientific papers. I guarantee you that there are thousands of references to the unimpeachable NYT story that cited this number, giving it the gloss of authority.
Many oft-cited stated statistics are as unreliable as the CDC or the Biden Administration’s inflation predictions.
So in any case Adam Schiff has trotted out some bullsh!t statistic and is “demanding action.” First of all, even if all those FBI meetings where they only “suggested” censoring posts were not an illegal infringement of the 1st Amendment, “demands” from a Congressman certainly are. Like 100%. And that statistic you can take to the bank.
Hey Elon, under your leadership neo-Nazis, homophobes, and racists are flocking to Twitter. And spewing hate speech.
Your denial would be more credible if it was backed up by any real evidence.
And if it wasn’t followed by a bunch of antisemitic QAnon tweets attacking me. https://t.co/UnF0EKbemM

Adam Schiff has as much right to demand Twitter do something to censor speech as any random 5 year old. Scratch that; he has less right, as a representative of the US government. He is prohibited from doing so.
Not that Schiff or most liberals give a crap about the Constitution. They only trot it out to attack Republicans. Every other moment they are attacking it. But whatever.
The other thing that is striking was pointed out by my friend John Ziegler: Schiff is admitting that “hate speech” was rampant on Twitter before now. In fact, as I have said before Twitter is a cesspool of hate and misinformation from every conceivable source. It always has been and always will be. The question isn’t whether it exists; the question is whether it will exist in an environment where everybody is allowed to speak.
There are many bizarre elements of Schiff’s tweet, but these 2 should not go unnoticed:
-Those who claim the Twitter Files showed no 1st Amendment violation are now committing a clear one
-He’s saying that all of those “slurs” were also regularly used BEFORE Musk bought Twitter

Conservatives weren’t being booted off Twitter for propagating hate; we are no more or no less likely to be jerks than any other demographic as far as I can tell. We were being booted off because we disagreed with The Narrative™.
The New York Post wasn’t banned for hate speech; it was banned for revealing an inconvenient truth. Same with most other people booted off of Twitter. Hate speech and “glorification of violence” are extremely elastic terms.
Hell, even Donald Trump’s tweets that got him kicked off were some of the tamest in his feed. He called for people to be peaceful, not violent, and was kicked off for that. Twitter called these two tweets “glorification of violence.” Go figure:
If you go back and read the news stories when Trump was kicked off, they mentioned the “glorification of violence” excuse without any explanation of how saying “support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement” glorified violence. Or how “remain peaceful” incited a riot. They just invented a definition out of thin air and called it a day.
Like Adam Schiff is doing here.
So when some politician starts throwing out accusations about “hate speech,” keep in mind the definition of “hate speech” the Left uses. It is an invention as evanescent as a fart from Schiff, and as pleasant to experience.
Musk has the tools used by the prior Twitter regime to measure the exact same metrics about the use of racial slurs. If he claims the number used has gone down by a third I am inclined to believe him. I suspect that this is related to kicking off the pedophiles and Antifa terrorists whose self-policing is not notably good. They are big into hate in general, so probably quite prolific in hate speech.
I don’t know. I avoid hate speech on Twitter pretty well because I don’t follow many jerks, except high profile Lefty ones I need to read for my job.
All you need to know about “hate speech” and “misinformation” is that the Left is just fine with explicit death threat against conservatives, and hunky dory about the Taliban and Iranian government being on Twitter. They just want YOU gone. Your existence is the definition of hate.
Adam Schiff is a sociopathic liar. Over the last 6 years you could find innumerable lies about the Steele Dossier, having secret evidence proving Trump’s collusion with Russia, and a million other things.
That the Democrats and the MSM keep trotting him out as an authority tells you everything you need to know.
