OK. I get it. I am licking my wounds, shouting at clouds, rending my garments, and contemplating the benefits of a week-long bender too.
I’m also angry. And after my initial bout of incoherent rage at everybody, I am calming down. As all of us should. I have yet to see a situation where anger, panic, or emotionalism made things better. I doubt this is the first.
So let’s get back to basics: America is facing the same challenges today as it was on Monday: the Marxists are in charge and they need to be defeated. After a massive campaign that culminated in yesterday’s election, we were fought to a standstill. We didn’t gain ground, we didn’t really lose any either. The front lines barely changed.
The battle happened and…everybody walked away exhausted. Bloodied, bruised, spent.
We expected to win big, so this is beyond disappointing. Our morale took a huge hit, but we actually are in pretty much the same spot we were before, and the stakes in 2024 are, if anything, higher. It’s time to reassess, adjust, and prepare for the next battle.
We didn’t lose the war. We didn’t actually lose the battle. We squandered an advantage.
Bad, certainly, but not exactly like being the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge–where illusory gains led to terminal collapse. This was not even Dunkirk, where retreat itself was a kind of victory. It turns out that this is more World War I than World War II, if you use a war metaphor. We are in trench warfare.
Lots of us are angry–justifiably–and are looking for officers to frag. Mistakes were made, and we need somebody to blame. Fine, we can have that argument, but it need not become violent or excessively nasty.
Our real enemies are not the officers who led us; it is the guys in the other trenches. We should argue with each other about strategy. And we should determine whose strategies worked and whose didn’t, and choose the winners as the rightful leaders. But the officers who made the bad choices were wrong, not our enemies.
The commies on the other side are. Hold your fire until you can get a shot at them, not the guy on your side who screwed up. That does nobody any good at all.
(By the way, nasty Lefty who wants to paint me as a violent extremist–this is a metaphor! War metaphors are expected in politics).
America is worth fighting for, and Joe Biden’s Democrats are no less dangerous today than on Monday. In fact, given the morale boost they got yesterday, they are going to be more dangerous. Biden will remain stymied in Congress, but as Obama reminded us a few years back, he still has a pen and a phone. And he is even more willing than Obama to push the constitutional limits of his power.
We still have teens to save from mutilation, an education system to reform, an economy to save, and wars to avoid abroad.
Given all this, I implore you all to avoid anger with your fellow conservatives. It doesn’t help at all. It is what losers do, and why they keep on losing. We can all disagree with the calls made by the McConnells and the Trumps–and we will have to argue with each other about whom to follow into future battles.
But they are not our enemies, and neither are their supporters. The enemies we have are not people with whom we disagree–it is the enemies of the West. The radicals.
Americans are still looking for leaders they can both like and trust. They know that things are going badly and want a change. In many cases they didn’t like the alternatives we gave them. 2024 will be a do-over.
So let’s regroup, and give them alternatives they like better.
FROM THE BOSS:
Now that the midterms are over, we must now prepare for the all-important 2024 presidential cycle — in fact, even more urgently than before. We need to make sure Democrats are one and done in the White House, and keep them locked out of control of Congress too.
