This morning brings a rare reprise by a top official with John Bolton the lead guest on the Sunday shows for the second straight week. He’ll drop by “This Week” to talk North Korea and Venezuela. It’s surprising that he’d be tapped again so soon by the White House given that he made news a week ago by refusing to defend Trump’s comments about Kim and Otto Warmbier, at one point distorting what POTUS claimed Kim had said to him and at another declining altogether to try to spin what Trump said. Maybe that’s why Trump wanted him back this week, to force him to do better.
Ilhan Omar is, of course, not a guest today — why would she risk further trouble? — but her dual-loyalty comments about Israel supporters will be a recurring topic. Leading the GOP message is Liz Cheney, who unloaded on Omar and Democrats after the House vote on Thursday’s “anti-hate” resolution. She’ll be on “Meet the Press.” Appearing for the Democrats is Katie Hill, another freshman but one who’s gotten lost in the crowd thus far amid all the media attention to Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and of course Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Hill will be on “Fox News Sunday” to weigh in on Omar, mindful that her California district is a straight toss-up between Republicans and Democrats. She can’t blindly shill for her colleague the way the safe-seat “Squad” clique in the House can.
If none of that grabs you, Dem 2020 candidate John Hickenlooper will appear on “Face the Nation” and try to decide if he’s a capitalist or not. The full line-up is at the AP.
