...Mejia introduced Dona Margarita Cielo Balbuena of Dover, who spent two months in harsh conditions at the Elizabeth Detention Center after what Balbuena described as a violent arrest.
...Balbuena, a diminutive figure who barely cleared the podium, spoke with emotion as she described the May 23 arrest involving her husband, son and herself.
“On the 23rd of May, I suffered pepper gas, great terror, and physical abuse at the hands of immigration agents,” Balbuena said through an interpreter.
She said agents blocked the street and approached the family’s truck aggressively.
“I didn’t know who they were. They had their faces blocked with masks and dark glasses. They didn’t identify themselves as immigration agents,” she said.
Balbuena said agents sprayed the family with pepper gas. Her adult son, an American citizen, demanded to see a judicial warrant but was ignored, she said. Her husband, who was recovering from back surgery, was dragged from the truck screaming in pain and jumped by four agents.
“I suffered two months of detention in the Elizabeth Detention Center. They gave us spoiled milk, rotten, spoiled food that smelled bad,” said Balbuena, who has lived in the United States since 1989 and, along with her husband, is a homeowner and business owner.
Her voice broke as she added: “There are still people in there who are suffering.”
Nowhere in that heart-rending, heart-pounding tale of Mrs. Balbuena's arrest and detention do they mention that she and her husband were here illegally.
Living here ILLEGALLY SINCE 1989.
And she could not speak the first word of English after thirty-seven years in this country to tell this sad story, or worse, what came next out of her mouth in Spanish - demanding citizenship for people who have managed to stay hidden here for seven years or longer.

First and foremost, the nerve of her. The unmitigated GALL of this creature.
I am going to channel my inner Greta Thunberg in all its unhinged fury for a from-the-heart, 'How DARE she?!'
And I love how she uses the 'we need.'
Girlfriend, no. 'WE THE PEOPLE' don't 'need' that at all. 'We the people' already have far too many of you arrogant, non-assimilating squatters taking up space and resources, demanding things you have no right to.
You couldn't be bothered, in all that time, and with American-born children, to learn to speak a word of our native tongue? And in all those decades, there wasn't a single time Balbuena and her husband could have applied to remain legally?
...When the Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed, it was only meant to be a “one time” amnesty but it actually turned out to be the beginning of many amnesties that would follow. To date there have been additional amnesties that have been granted to illegal immigrants which include:
- Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens.
- Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.
- Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.
- Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America.
- Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.
- Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens.
- LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens
- The are currently several bills in the United States congress that could possibly create the 8th Amnesty.
Each amnesty has been on a different scale, some granting amnesty to as little as 125,000 illegal immigrants while others have granted amnesty to almost 1 million illegal immigrants. Currently there are plans to introduce another amnesty to the approximate 12 million illegal immigrants that reside in the United States. Critics claim that immigration amnesties entice an even greater number of illegal migrants, since they hope for another amnesty which can grant them permanent resident status in the United States.
I find that hard to believe. She might have tried as hard to be legal as she did to learn English.
It's so much easier to demand something you haven't earned, isn't it?
The butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-Mexican-mouth abuela also didn't address why the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would even take the time to fuss over a little old couple from New Jersey.

...On Wednesday a DHS spokesperson said ICE agents with warrants arrested Margarita Cielo-Balbuena and her husband, Filemon Ruiz-Cielo, “criminal illegal aliens from Mexico,” in a targeted operation in Dover on May 23.
According to DHS, Balbuena has a conviction for grand larceny and her husband’s criminal history includes arrests for possession of cocaine, simple assault, and failure to report an accident.
During a vehicle stop, ICE officers approached their vehicle, the statement said, “and ordered Ruiz to exit the vehicle. He refused to follow lawful orders and physically assaulted ICE law enforcement officers and resisted arrest. ICE law enforcement officers used the minimum amount of force necessary to make the arrest.
“Each alien entered the U.S. at an unknown date and place without inspection. All their claims will be heard before an immigration judge and both illegal aliens will receive full due process. To be clear, work authorization does NOT give someone legal status to be in our country.
And I have only found the DHS side of the story in one news report. It would boo-hoo-bust the narrative, I guess.
There isn't much sympathy for the demanding one online. Perhaps if she'd been able to stutter out a halting plea for forgiveness and mercy, but to demand through an interpreter after decades on the lam just rings a little too ballsy to stomach.

After nearly four decades she still cannot function in English. Yet she feels perfectly justified demanding the full rights of citizenship for herself and millions of others who have not assimilated either.
This is the system working exactly as designed.
We have imported so many people so quickly that assimilation is no longer required.
Critical mass creates ethnic silos where English and the host culture become optional.
You can live your entire life here without learning our language or our way of life and still demand the right to vote and rewrite the country.
That is how America becomes balkanized and unrecognizable.
Mass deportations are the only policy that restores the pressure to assimilate.
Everything else is just managed decline.
Mrs. Balbuena had been released under pressure concerning her diabetes treatment at the facility - I know, I know. I haven't found anything more on her situation as far as, say, a scheduled court appearance or whatever. She'd better be on an immigration docket somewhere.
Meanwhile, the Democrat leadership stood, proudly cheek by jowl with this lawbreaker as she demanded a precious privilege, and defended her while excoriating our immigration law enforcement. I mean, yeah, she's illegal, but she 'pays taxes and owns a home,' so Hakeem Jeffries says it's all hunky dory!
...Margarita Cielo Balbuena, a married mother and restaurant owner in New Jersey who has been in the country illegally since 1989 but pays taxes and owns a home, said at Tuesday’s event that she was pepper-sprayed and physically abused at the hands of immigration agents in May.
...“Donald Trump lied to the American people. He said that immigration enforcement in this country was going to target the worst of the worst,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.., said at an event in New Jersey, where he was joined by Democratic U.S. Reps. Analilia Mejia and Rob Menendez, both of New Jersey.
“That’s not what has been happening,” Jeffries said. “Immigration enforcement is violent, out of control and unhinged behavior targeting people who are paying taxes, people who are homeowners, people who are raising families in this community and all across our country.”
...He added: “I think the American people are unified behind the notion that violent criminals here unlawfully should be deported consistent with our laws. At the same time, America is a nation of immigrants. That is part of what has made this country exceptional.”
He said House Democrats are committed to an “accountability agenda” and “believe a system of private detention is inconsistent with who we are as a country.”
Actually, though, I want Democrats to keep posing with these illegal aliens who can't speak a word or nearly a word of English. You go, guys.

Because every time they stand next to and defend someone like this, the American public watching them is reminded of how that person got here, got to stay here, who forced the taxpayer to foot the bill for them, and exactly who the priority is for the Democrat Party. Who gets the Democrat Party all worked up and who they couldn't care less about.
The distinction couldn't be clearer, and it couldn't happen at a better time.
Another note to entitled illegal aliens - there are no bonus points awarded for the longevity of your crime.
