What is it with Chicago and the horse poopy stories?
Just wanted to get the word out that they'd arrested someone after an intensive search.
So, lemme set the stage here in case you hadn't heard about this latest racist outrage and been shocked and horrified.
Someone, in broad daylight, dragged a seven-foot cross across Chicago, leaned it up against something in Grant Park, and lit it off. Oh, yeah - and stuck a MAGA hat on it for good measure.
OH, DEAR - WHAT EVER COULD THE MOTIVATION BE?
Unlike someone yelling 'Allahu ackbar' before slaughtering their fellow humans at, say, a line inside a Wendy's and no one can ever figure out why the guy's killing people, no one ever questions who lit a cross off, especially if they left their red ballcap behind.
Que the hysterics. And the moral preening.
🚨BREAKING: Someone dragged a cross into downtown Chicago… and lit it on fire in Grant Park.

And since some people seem determined to rewrite American history, here’s a reminder of what that means.
The KKK burned crosses for a reason… it was racial terrorism. It was meant to… pic.twitter.com/jYtUZBuH5N
...It was meant to threaten, intimidate, and terrorize Black communities, and anyone else they viewed as “less than,” into submission.
And we’ve spent years watching that same racism get a makeover.
We’ve watched politicians tell Americans to fear their neighbors. We’ve watched masked agents terrorize communities while people cheer it on. We’ve watched police brutality get a free pass, as long as the victim is someone society has decided “deserves it”.
When politicians spend years telling Americans that certain groups are “invading” our country, don’t belong here, or are violent criminals…
The hate and racism doesn’t stay contained.
You can’t use fear, dehumanization, and hatred as political tools, and then not expect people to feel comfortable taking that hatred into a public park, with a torch.
History has shown us, over and over, that when racism and political violence are tolerated, the target list doesn’t get shorter.
So, it’s on us to shut it down before history repeats itself.
Tedious emoting.

I feel we've been here before, but progressives are remarkably slow on the uptake.
Shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you.
The flames from the cross burning in the middle of Grant Park were visible to anyone driving or walking down Columbus Drive. https://t.co/NNDKdBKmZb

Anyway, one would think that surely someone saw Billy Bob in his white hood and robe as he made his barefoot way across the city to do his dirty deed of racial terrorism.
Human eyeballs apparently noticed not a thing out of place.
Cameras did.
Disturbing video shows a cross burning right in the heart of Chicago. Authorities have released an image of a person they say was seen fleeing the area. pic.twitter.com/6nLnnDiNEx

Well...hello?
Second photo of the individual seen running from the Grant Park arson incident that many have concluded was a cross-burning. https://t.co/3Hwgqfblrz pic.twitter.com/OdMIXmDTg3

Emergency is all over.
It was performative theater.
By a skinny, gay, Asian dude who's a socialist Democrat.
Who, of course, knew NOTHING about 'burning crosses' being, like 'racial' or anything.
I WAS PROTESTING MAGA CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST SUPPORTERS!
It's Trump's fault, he explained as he sat down with a local TV reporter for a lovely chat. Just like the interview afforded to every cross-burner.
HOW'D YOU LAND ON A BURNING CROSS, YOU CLEVER DUDE?
NBC 5's interview with Merlin Lu represents everything wrong with Chicago media.

Chuck Goudie is helping propel Lu, who admitted to burning a cross, to global stardom and become an icon of the anti-Trump movement.

...The fact Lu created a video admitting his actions and his willingness to sit for an interview only reveal his craving for fame and publicity.
And he's so cute - I don't see how anyone could have a problem with this.
The local station doesn't have a problem with making him a celebrity either, so it's a win for everyone.
This guy who faked a hate crime to start race wars and get people killed is sitting on a park bench chatting about his crime. Fun!

Aw. Just a stupid youth painfully reminding black people how hateful white supremacists are.
Brandon Johnson is asked about the guy who set up the burning cross in Chicago:
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) June 16, 2026
“It's a painful reminder of how hatred towards black Americans still permeates in our society."
It was actually an Asian socialist’s protest against MAGA. Other than all of that, dead on, Mr Mayor. pic.twitter.com/d8gIM4RCJV
Totally not racist, but burning crosses still are, even though this was not his fault, so no apologies necessary to white supremacists.
Hey Congresswoman from Chicago,

Can we get an update on that "white supremacy" you blamed for the cross burning in your city? pic.twitter.com/XtqiPMYuCH
Can't believe the Chicago cops arrested him.
A person of interest is in custody in connection with a cross found burning in Chicago's popular Grant Park last week, police confirmed to NBC Chicago Tuesday.
The latest development comes just hours after NBC 5 Investigates identified a 21-year-old college senior who said he is the person in the photo released by police and who described what he did and why. It was not immediately clear if the person in custody was the same man interviewed by NBC 5 Investigates, however for several days, authorities said they were only searching for one person of interest.
Chicago police and the FBI had been trying to identify the suspect for nearly a week, but the young shirtless man seen running from the burning cross had been a nameless person of interest in a Chicago police arson investigation and the subject of a possible FBI hate crime case.
The burning cross is a century-old flaming symbol of racism and hatred.
I highlighted that last sentence just in case anyone was unsure what a flaming cross in the yard or the park meant.
You never know who's thinking of doing something stupid, for no fake-racist-reason-whatsoever, and reads one of these stories - maybe it'll be my good deed for the day.
Kind of a public service.
In the meantime, progressives and the professional victim class have to once again grudgingly dial back the white supremacy outrage button until they find a real one.
BUMMER
And we've got another one to add to the long, long list of horse poopy in the Jussie Justice File.
