I thought I might do one of those 'feel good' sort of updates. Sure, we've all seen how the flow of bodies over the rivers and the open border lands has shriveled to damn near no one.
The dearth of illegals wading through the Rio Grande and trekking the Southwestern deserts to reach that great K-Mart in the United States has happened so suddenly and been so profoundly successful that even a hostile national media was forced to admit Trump's triumph. Although they do indulge in some petty sniveling by qualifying the border closure as a 'lull,' lol.
Unlawful crossings along southern border reach new historic low
The number of migrants caught crossing the southern border illegally set a new historic monthly low in June, continuing an extraordinary lull in illegal immigration the Trump administration has attributed to its aggressive deportation efforts, preliminary government data obtained by CBS News shows.
Last month, Border Patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border recorded just over 6,000 apprehensions of migrants who entered the country without authorization, the lowest monthly tally ever reported by the agency, according to the preliminary Customs and Border Protection data. The previous monthly low reported by Border Patrol was in March, when the agency recorded around 7,200 migrant apprehensions.
The numbers stand in stark contrast to the record levels of apprehensions made by Border Patrol under the Biden administration, which faced a humanitarian, political and operational crisis of unprecedented proportions at the southern border until it implemented restrictive asylum measures last year.
During many months of former President Joe Biden's tenure, Border Patrol recorded more than 6,000 apprehensions each day. At their peak in late 2023, daily illegal crossings at the southern border topped 10,000 on some days.
The Border Patrol is still actively scouring the landscape, as are the troops who were sent to augment their efforts shortly after President Trump's inauguration.

Thanks to the continued and unrelenting presence of both border agents and the US military, cartels are upset about the pressure placed on their businesses and their members who did the dirty work for them.

Again, the national liberal media, looking for an opportunity to sneer at the efforts to close and secure the border for the nation's sake, sometimes overstep in their premature gloating.
For instance, here's a recent MSNBC story, with Ja'han Jones gleefully dumping on Texas Republicans for what seems to be the ignominious death of their border wall aspirations.

Texas Republicans quietly stopped funding for their state’s border wall, seemingly acknowledging that the plan has been a waste of time and money.
Texas appears to have quietly stopped funding its plans to construct its own border wall with Mexico, which could mark the end of an embarrassing boondoggle designed to bolster one of President Donald Trump’s early campaign slogans.
For years, conservatives have framed the idea of a border wall as essential to immigration enforcement, despite a chorus of critics denouncing it as costly and ineffective. And Texas Republicans’ decision to defund the project seems like a tacit acknowledgment of that reality.
The Texas Tribune was first to report that a new state budget signed into law earlier this month includes no money for the wall, which was envisioned as covering more than 800 miles. But only a fraction of that was ever completed — at great cost to taxpayers.
Four years after Gov. Greg Abbott announced Texas would be the first state to build its own border wall, lawmakers have quietly stopped funding the project, leaving only scattered segments covering a small fraction of the border...
Mr Jones' petty and scornful regurgitation of anti-wall talking points, in addition to his unseemly delight in the funding fall off, has left out two salient points which would, had he half a brain and any integrity, precluded him from writing this crap at all, besides breezily ignoring the fact that there is now a secure border.
A simple search would have revealed that the reason Texas dropped its own border wall construction funding is that the federal government is now picking up the bill.
WELL, HUH
And Lord knows Mr Jones doesn't want any of his spittle-flecked MSNBC readers who are thrilled at this TX GOP defeat to find out that the federal government is reimbursing Texas for some of what they spent on the state's border wall to the tune of some $13B coming back into state coffers.

That would so ruin Jones' whole 'sad, silent death' story if readers knew Texans are now arguing over what to spend the 'no money for the wall' money they're receiving as rebate checks on.
Well, yes, it would. Thank goodness Mr Jones left all that out.
As for a border wall being 'the embarrassing boondoggle' that 'is costly and ineffective' according to the same critics who said you could never close the border, sadly for Mr Jones' narrative, it's also very much alive. Worse yet, the wall is still growing.

It is almost as if they were trying to purposefully mislead and misfeed their devoted followers.

And they are appreciated, as is the president who has made it possible for them to do their job. The Daily Caller wandered around some Texas border towns that had been longtime blue strongholds, and the folks in them are now thoroughly sold on the power of a red-pill.
...“Oh, I’m very happy,” Perla Bazan, a lifelong resident of Starr County, Texas, told the Daily Caller News Foundation about Trump’s handling of immigration enforcement.
Starr County voted for Trump in the 2024 election, the first time the county had favored a Republican presidential candidate in 132 years. The last time a GOP presidential contender won the county was in 1892.
...Having experienced many ebbs and flows of illegal migrant activity during her decades living near the southern border, Bazan said the crisis she witnessed under Biden was unequivocally the “worst.” The Starr County resident recounted one moment, in particular, when she was home with her daughter and they were terrified their roof would fly away because of a nearby helicopter chasing down a group of illegal migrants.
“My daughter was like, ‘Mom, what’s happening?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know,'” Bazan remembered. “So she went through the back door, we didn’t see [anything, but] when she opened the front door, there were a bunch of illegals running right through the sidewalk. I said, ‘close the door and lock it.'”
During the Biden era, Bazan said she regularly heard gunshots throughout the day — a practice she said was a “signal” to migrants that they could cross into the U.S. later that night. The Texas mom added that, by the end of Biden’s first term, her community was ready to vote for change.
So, while Democrats are swigging flower-decked margaritas with gang members, whining about 80° tent temps in the Everglades, and concocting faux-funding fables for their six online readers and eighteen cable viewers, President Trump has been getting done what he said he'd do as expeditiously as possible.
If I were anyone associated with MSNBC, I'd be cautious employing that 'sad, silent death' line anymore.
Just sayin'.
Thanks to President Trump and the stalwarts of the CBP, the flow of illegals across the border has virtually ended. New legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
