Excusing Reefer Madness: Tiny Tykes in the Ganja Garden

Out there in California (again) there was a Mexican stand-off of epic enough proportions to make several breaking news interruptions during the Fox prime time line-up last night. The long and short of it was the feds raided - with warrants - a pot growing operation, legal by CA laws, not so by federal statute, looking for the reported illegal aliens who kept the agricultural side of the house growing.

As with everything CA and immigration lately, it turned into a giant Schlitz sammich. Activists got word of the raid, illegals scattered like cockroaches, tear gas and rocks went flying, and surprise, surprise, surprise, so did bullets. From a gun in an illegal alien's hand, no less.

Ed had a really good piece on the bullets flying at law enforcement during the chaos of the ICE raid and now there's a big fat reward for any information leading to the arrest of the shooter.

Besides the assault with a deadly weapon excitement, Ed noted that the officers scooped up something like ten minor children, even as greasy Gavin Newsom was hypocritically whining about how terrible it was for children at the site to be separated from their mothers.

I also see that David has a post coming up later, going after the absolutely revolting media take on the children being at the farm.

I had an angle I wanted to pursue just a little bit because it might help explain what some of those kids were doing there besides, you know, just innocents strapped to their mothers' hips as they toiled in the fields.

And also expose how disgustingly without scruples the same progressives who lambast heartless, cruel, racist [insert 'ist'], etc. Republicans don't give a flying fig when it comes to something that might interfere with their lawn being mowed, laundry being done, floors scrubbed, or, in this case, toking pleasure.

God forbid anything interrupts a progressive's right to their chosen lifestyle. They will make any excuse, no matter how craven it sounds nor how hypocritical they are mouthing it, and they do so almost reflexively.

Case in point, this Department of Homeland Security Xweet yesterday about the children.

And the kids they did snatch up were pretty young.

Under the mostly supportive comments on the DHS there was one I just had to answer after everything Bass and Newsom have done and are still doing.

...These farm workers are among the hardest working of our citizens. 100% of them paying taxes. Where are the real criminals? Where’s the perp walks?  Nada. Because they aren’t doing that/

The kicker came when a pothead started explaining to me that if I understood just how small the margins were for these poor pot growers, I'd be a little more understanding.

First off legal hemp is a billion dollar industry Second off, you're thinking about illegal black market drug dealers. They're the only ones with high margins

With all the red tape +regulatory requirements BEFORE we talk about the INSANE taxes they charge Hemp businesses, it's

EXCUSE ME?

Ah, growing the ganja. Apparently, it takes a lot of effort, both physically and paperwork-wise, to keep a California legal marijuana 'farming' concern above water.

Billions of dollars and such slim profit margins are the excuse for using illegal immigrant labor (he skipped right over the children part.).

Well, then, what's their excuse for, say, grocery stores in California? They have 'slim' profit margins of only 1-3%, exceedingly stringent regulations to follow on myriad different levels, and yet California grocery stores had no problem with paying an average $20 hr wage to their workers, who are all legal.

Why should CA licensed - which this supposedly was - pot farms be any different than a Ralph's supermarket in Santa Ana?

But you know what, like, a Ralph's doesn't have that pot farms need basically indentured child labor for?

Cleaning up their product so they can make a 'premium' sale.

Smallish kiddie fingers are great for picking seeds and stems out of sticky, resinous pot leaves.

Isn't that neat to know?

Seeds and stems are the downfall of primo stuff, and any supplier wants those gone before his product leaves his farm.

Finding seeds in your marijuana stash can be like discovering a pit in your favorite fruit. It’s unexpected and can be a little frustrating, especially if you weren't planning on growing your own plants. Getting rid of those seeds isn't just about keeping your pot smooth and enjoyable; it’s also about ensuring the quality and potency of your experience.

In this post, we’ll look at why seeds appear in your marijuana, how to identify them, and most importantly, how to remove them with ease. You’ll also pick up some tips on what to do with those seeds once you’ve separated them from your buds. Let’s get started on making your cannabis experience as clean and enjoyable as possible.

Because, you know, margins are slim...like little kiddie fingers.

And I'm sure this operation complied with all relevant state statutes. Except for the 'illegal' part.

Labor Code - LAB

DIVISION 2. EMPLOYMENT REGULATION AND SUPERVISION [200 - 2699.8]

  ( Division 2 enacted by Stats. 1937, Ch. 90. )

PART 4. EMPLOYEES [1171 - 1413]

  ( Heading of Part 4 amended by Stats. 1972, Ch. 1122. )

CHAPTER 3. Working Hours [1390 - 1399]

  ( Chapter 3 enacted by Stats. 1937, Ch. 90. )

1394.

This chapter and Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 1285) do not prohibit or prevent either of the following:

(a) The employment of any minor at agricultural, horticultural, viticultural, or domestic labor during the time the public schools are not in session, or during other than school hours, when the work performed is for or under the control of his parent or guardian and is performed upon or in connection with premises owned, operated or controlled by the parent or guardian. However, nothing herein shall permit children under schoolage to work at these occupations while the public schools are in session.

(b) The full-time employment of minors who meet all other legal employment requirements, if they are exempt from compulsory school attendance under Section 48231 of the Education Code.

Not that it matters to a two-faced, pro-pot progressive about any of these kids one bit, but child servitude is so last century, even if their mom does keep your bathroom tidy.
