For mega-moguls whose names are instantly recognizable, few are more so than Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Particularly now that Elon has purchased Twitter, transforming it into “X,” and maintaining most of the freedoms he promised when he did so, there couldn’t be a greater contrast between the two social media giants’ platforms, both in style and philosophy.

Nor could there be a bigger disparity between the individuals themselves. Musk is a larger than life, outspoken freedom-loving advocate for common sense, constitutional rights, and free enterprise/anti-government interference contrarian. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, is a reclusive, manipulative, socialist-leaning lizard-man, who prefers to dump money behind the scenes to influence results his already enormous innerwebs power cannot compel through censorship and content manipulation. He is rarely seen: occasionally blinking in the spotlight of Congressional testimonial hostage videos or some sort of Meta public exercise, like the latest layoff announcement. His preternaturally waxy skin and expressionless face add to the reptilian vibe.

Only the Geico gecko has some pep to him and no malice.

There’s another difference between the two entrepreneurs – the feds love them some Zuck, whilst seeming to spend an inordinate amount of time and money crawling up Elon’s butt businesses. The latest alleged outrage is now being thoroughly probed by the completely unbiased and painfully professional Southern District of NY’s U.S. attorney’s office.

Federal prosecutors are scrutinizing personal benefits Tesla TSLA 0.56%increase; green up pointing triangle may have provided Elon Musk since 2017—longer than previously known—as part of a criminal investigation examining issues including a proposed house for the chief executive.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York also has sought information about transactions between Tesla and other entities connected to the billionaire, people familiar with the investigation said. Prosecutors have referenced the involvement of a grand jury.

The new information indicates that federal prosecutors have a broader interest in the actions of Musk and Tesla than was previously known and that they are pursuing potential criminal charges. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the Justice Department is investigating Tesla’s use of company resources on a secret project that was described internally as a house for Musk.

Digging into darn near every business for some pretty silly ass stuff.

I mean, there is always a federal agency crawling up each and every one of Elon’s myriad entrepreneurial orifices about everything.

…The FTC has been looking into X’s privacy and security practices for more than a year, opening a probe following a whistleblower complaint that the company had “extreme, egregious deficiencies” in its defenses against hackers, according to court filings. The probe continued as Musk acquired X for $44 billion in late October and nearly immediately launched into massive changes for the site, including creating new subscription services to pay for verification check marks, restoring thousands of banned accounts, and changing many of the rules on the platform. He also eventually let go of roughly 80 percent of the staff, leaving the company running on a skeleton crew.

The Justice Department described these events as “sudden, radical changes” and said the FTC had “every reason to seek information about whether these developments signaled a lapse in X Corp.’s compliance.”

The filing highlights Musk’s near immediate changes to the company, particularly in the early days of his takeover. He “exercised granular control of X Corp., at times directing employees in a manner that may have jeopardized data privacy and security,” according to the filing.

He also told his employees the buck stopped with him, as did the “ultimate liability.” What’s not to love? From a leadership standpoint, that’s admirable, but from the DoJ, FTC, fed standpoint, it’s immediately suspicious. The perfect excuse to launch yet another investigation of Musk-ville.

They are so mad at him and you’ve got to wonder what the deal is. It’s not like he tried to buy an election or anything. That was pretty much the other guy – the one no one really bothers much.

If Zuck gets outed for a transgression egregious enough that the public becomes aware, he sends another check to treasury and that’s the end of it. It pays to be actively working with the dark side.

Elon is paying the price for exposing that side to the light and thank goodness there are those who will publicly beard the dragon…or the malevolent quavering husk we have for an attorney general.

No other way to describe it.

Meanwhile, many actual crimes, some of great significance, go not merely unpunished, but not even investigated.

In spite of tremendous pressure (granted, with the occasional burp), X has remained an open marketplace, to the shrieks and howls of the censorship crowd. The loss of informational control absolutely maddens them, and they take their tantrums to the mainstream media as the next step.

Facebook goes about its merry way unimpeded, colluding with the Biden administration and the various international agencies at whose behest it institutes controls on information and formulates narratives for general consumption. YouTube “demonetizes” regime opponents and unfortunate souls who do not meet the message criteria every day

Zuck is the regime mouthpiece and manipulator even as he’s busy promoting a phantasy world behind his lizard lenses.

Musk shoots for the stars, shoots his mouth off, puts his money where his mouth IS, fending off federal forces looking for any weakness to cut the legs out from under him in order to cut the free flow of information out from under US.

I’m sure glad he’s up for it.
