Election Day tears, Dem fears and a warning - please don't lick the toads

You can already see the jockeying for position for the “most somber take” award on the (hopefully) looming Democratic Election Day disaster. I read CNN’s pre-post-mortem (Is there such a thing?) and it’s a wallow. The headline is a snort in itself – every last drop of deep Democratic disappointment condensed into a sentence. Take a gander at this:

Democrats confront their nightmare scenario on election eve as economic concerns overshadow abortion and democracy worries

“Overshadow.” That’s it, right there in a nutshell. Right up to the day before (please make is so, baby Jesus) a historic shellacking, the Dem media organ’s best “analysis” is that they lost because voters just can’t comprehend how much more important abortion is than filling their gas tank, food on the table, freezing to death, getting shoved in front of a train or choked to death at a Kathy Hochul rally.

Talk about your screwed-up priorities – voters are clueless, the ingrates and it’s no wonder democracy is at stake! Worse, Republicans are “gleeful.” Oh, that stings.

…with Republicans staging a gleeful referendum on Joe Biden’s struggling presidency and failure to tame inflation.

…Hopes that Democrats could use the Supreme Court’s overturning of the right to an abortion and a flurry of legislative wins to stave off the classic midterm election rout of a party in power are now a memory. Biden faces a dark political environment because of the 40-year-high in the cost of living – and his hopes of a swift rebound next year are clouded by growing fears of a recession.

Again, as if a recession were not already here, but I’m making his point.

…“I’m a loyal Democrat, but I am not happy. I just think that we are – we did not listen to voters in this election. And I think we’re going to have a bad night,” [Dem consultant Hillary] Rosen told CNN’s Dana Bash.

“And this conversation is not going to have much impact on Tuesday, but I hope it has an impact going forward, because when voters tell you over and over and over again that they care mostly about the economy, listen to them. Stop talking about democracy being at stake.”

There’s a concept. I do believe they’re so used to lecturing down to the peasants that the adjustment to a Democratic party based on servant representatives could be a bridge too far. You can’t remake society in your own image if society is telling you that’s not what they want. When you are convinced of your superiority, you know best, and you’re not listening. Shrieking about democracy boogiemen to browbeat those same citizens doesn’t work either. Understanding exactly what democracy is, we’ve seen Democrats browbeat – bludgeon, rather – it and our constitutional rights into a pulp over the past two years, and have had enough.

…The impossibility of the political environment for Democrats was laid bare in a CNN/SSRS poll released last week. Some 51% of likely voters said the economy was the key issue in determining their vote. Only 15% named abortion – a finding that explains how the election battleground has tilted toward the GOP. Among voters for whom the economy is their top concern, 71% plan to vote Republican in their House district. And 75% of voters think the economy is already in a recession, meaning that Biden’s efforts to stress undeniably strong economic areas – including the strikingly low unemployment rate – are likely to fall on deaf ears.

“Think” – voters “think” we’re in a recession. No, CNN analyst. We KNOW we’re in a recession. We understand consecutive negative quarters of growth, we understand inverted yield curves, we understand that the prices we are paying now are nothing compared to what is baked into the system and headed our way already thanks to Biden’s inflationary policies. We ain’t seen nuthin’ yet, and we know it.

We also understand that two years ago we had plenty enough natural resources for the next hundred years to keep the lights and heat on, and our cars running. There was formula for infants on shelves, and suddenly we have to scramble for any of it. We understand we have all become preppers after our own fashion for our own households, thanks to Democrats and Biden. These same folks are itching to impose even greater unnecessary hardships upon their fellow citizens in pursuit of socialist pipe dreams. We are done being the rats for your SJW lab.

We also understand how pathetic, morally bankrupt, power-hungry, and malignant you all are, and how monomaniacally clinical your obsessions tend to be. For all that Democrat/Biden’s policies have wrought on this country, the very last sentence of your woebegone dirge is…this?

…If Democrats do lose big on Tuesday night, Trump will be a beneficiary.

We are ruled by malevolent clowns. Hopefully, the end of their reign starts tomorrow when the polls close. We just have to survive until the new class is sworn in.

I am praying one of those is Hung Cao. A retired Navy Capt (profiled in October) who’s running for Congress in deep blue VA-10, Cao put out his campaign’s final ad yesterday. The simple beauty of it left me in tears. I think it would touch most American heartstrings, as most of us, deep down, have those flyover country, patriotic, soft-touch type hearts wherever we actually hail from and whatever our regional accent. We love this country.

For Democrats, I hope tomorrow is truly ghastly, historically so – that is my wish, not for them, but for the sake of this country and all of us. We have to make it happen and I have a good feeling about that. But it must happen. Dems will have problems coping – God knows they’re not good at losing, and a sea change like this will cause some real emotional distress.

This is why I thought I should include a recently issued warning, knowing how some on the Left are prone to walk on the wild side of better living through chemicals. Stick to the stuff your doctor’s written a script for, okay? While it might make the entire unpleasant Election Day nightmare fade for a bit, please – leave the Sonoran desert toads alone this week.

Please don’t lick this psychedelic toad, US park rangers warn

You know they’ll be out there. You can’t tell those people a thing.

Update (Ed): There was an erroneous reference to Jake Tapper which has been removed.
